First 7km!

After completing a mix of 5km & 6km with one 4km this month, I thought I'd try and go the longest distance yet by doing a 7km run which I did this morning.

Out the door at 5.56am this morning, I was glad I decided to give yesterday a miss as it was a bit warmer this morning compared to yesterday (something about hearing someone scrape ice off their car window really puts you off getting out of your warm bed and going out for a run haha! :D )

This is the first run I've done when not using a Nike Distance Based Guided Run (apart from one run with Mo Farah in my ear) since I started using the app at the end of August as there isn't a 7km guided run. I must admit, I enjoyed having no lengthy interruption to the podcast I was listening to (apart from the split second it takes for the app to announce my distance)

I'm extremely pleased with myself and am hoping to do a couple of more 5km+ runs this month in order to complete 50km+ in November.

As you can see, my pace is still slow but after completing a couple of 6km's a few weeks ago, this helped me smash my 5km PB by over 90 seconds so this is my intention again. If it works, it works and if it doesn't, then at least I've kept moving for (just) over an hour!

Happy Running !!

That’s great going there, well done! 👏👏👏👍

I like to run for longer, even at the expense of pace. I’ll factor in a short, faster run now and then, to work on pace. Just go out and do a 2K run and work hard! Or do some interval work. That’s when you can really see your pace improving as a result of running for longer.

If I’m running for 7K I choose one of the guided runs that’s about an hour. If it finishes before I’ve done the 7K I just run on.

Thank you!!

Perhaps I'll use one of my remaining runs in November to do a fast 2K like you have suggested as I've done 49.11km this month so my target os 50km+ for November is as good as done 😀

Well done! I don't expect to be doing 7km myself for a few weeks yet, but I'm working towards it.

You could claim your 60 minute badge over in the Bridge to 10K forum.

I had no idea that was a thing. I've requested it! Thank you :D

Great work! You need to pop over to The Bridge to 10k forum and claim your 60 minute badge. Have a look at ju-ju's Magic Plan while you are there. I think you will find it interesting. Happy running 😀😀
