Yep, all the time. Just a bite of banana and some water. I've done quite long runs like this too, but usually take a snack with me if I'm running for a long time, just some raisins or sweets.
Yes, I love it beautiful sun rises, and the thought of my warm porridge when I get back keeps me going
Early runs are terrific...set you up for the day! I have always just had a cup of tea and two digestive biscuits about 1hr before and just a sip of water leaving the house:)A healthy eating regime and great hydration all the time is a great starting point
It's my standard time to run and it's lovely. I usually drink a big glass of water before I go out, but don't eat anything until I come back. I'm doing 5ks mostly.
I did my R8W2 like that yesterday - loved it, shower and breakfast when I got back. Thought I would struggle but actually found it easier!
Yes my preferred time to run and usually with just a drink of water before I go. Has always worked for me. I have started experimenting recently with eating a small banana beforehand (as have felt the need for an energy boost during and post run). Will see how that goes.
Yes.
Two cups of tea and out when it starts to get light.
Yes, and I'm not a morning person!
Yes it’s my best running time. Sometimes I grab a banana first thing but mostly a mouthful of water and off I go.
Yes, I love it. Especially when it’s cold and dark, it’s strangely liberating.
Yes. I get up and have a sip of water and go! Love running in the pre-dawn star light, getting back as the sun rises. Sets me up for the day! 🙌🏽🌟
A the moment I shuffle in the morning and only have a glass of water. Being quite new to running I'm not sure what time of day is best for me yet. I'm not a morning person at all so this sort of wakes my brain up without taxing it too much before I start work.
Yes, all the time but I’ve recently started having half a banana with some water just before I go out and finishing the banana on my return. I got the idea from someone else on here I think.
Yes and nothing wrong with that. Any short runs (less than an hour approx) don't require much if any fuel, if you are properly hydrated. However, you need to listen to your body's signals. After an hour of exercise, also depending on its intensity, your electrolyte/glycogen stores will start to deplete and once they are near the bottom you are likely to become a bit disoriented, dizzy and nauseous. The moment they are empty your body will start to use fat as fuel but leave that to trainer professionals. In our case we will simply be forced to stop and some may even faint. I'm talking long runs here, situations where you are attempting distance training without proper hydration and fuelling and you are sweating lots, hence losing electrolytes. Watch out for the warning signals though, your body will send them in advance.
Yes. Just a little bit of banana, glug of water, half mug coffee, perhaps couple of dates then thats it I'm off!! Lol. 😊
Every time! Between 5 and 7 on the morning, no food or drink at all. Then 3 Weetabix with banana on and a large coffee when I get home 👌🏻
Thanks everyone, good to know I'm not the only one. I feel better running with no food in me. Helps lengthen the time when intermittent fasting too for health.
Yes, I rarely eat anything anyway before about 11 AM, so as long as I'm out before then I usually run on empty. If I'm hungry then obviously I'll have something. Sometimes I don't eat in the evenings - Intermittent fasting, so I might need something before a morning run. I'll often just have a boiled egg, or some mushrooms fried up with a little chopped bacon, but only a small amount.
Yes, most of the time. If I run a bit later I might have a cup of coffee before I go, but as a rule I run on empty ( I always try to have at least 2 litres of fluid the day before I run though)
Yes most days I do as this morning I did an early workout on fumes and enjoyed it.
Yes, me too, although I've not done so in a couple of weeks (the duvet is so clingy). When I'm doing an early run it's just a small glass of water, some warm-up exercises and straight out the door. I eat when I get back.
