Run 12 ,today Friday 13th ( hadn’t noticed that πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚) and run 11 was a full week ago πŸ™„πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Life is slightly running away with me ( back to work part time, family stuff etc.) so I am falling behind a bit with runs and a β€˜big bit’ with my posts too.

Only just about keeping up with my replies to all you good people who are (unlike me) getting out there !πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Anyway inspired by LottieMW β€˜S last post I got going this morning and had a brilliant run .

Ran 5k at an enjoyable but improving pace so have been in a super mood all day ( I find running in the morning has a great effect on my whole day so I’m glad I got over my self consciousness about running around in the daytime)

A couple of things I learnt/observed today ,

I didn’t have my usual β€˜Toxic 8 minutes’ and I lose my β€˜groove’ if I do β€˜U Turns’ πŸ˜‚

I know why I got rid of the Toxic 8 and I will repeat it.

Long story as short as possible πŸ™„πŸ™„

Got a new android phone (was always an 🍏) awhile back , don’t like it so got daughters old 🍏 phone .

This morning I discovered there’s no port for wired headphones πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ.

So , no worries would just take the Android

Android battery dead , maybe just run with no music ?πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Wasted 5 minutes learning I’m not that person πŸ˜‚

Had to charge android ( thought I’d left all this malarkey behind πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ clearly not )

So I popped tv on and did a 10 min aerobics with walking/running around the kitchen and a 5 min lovely stretching one ( fabulous 50s with the lovely Australian lady would recommend even though I’m a decade late πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)

Then went off with my music to do my run and it was a joy 🀩, no niggles , no gremlin right on the 8 minute mark telling me this is too hard and do you really think you can do another 20/30 mins ?πŸ‘ΉπŸ˜ˆ

So I’m going to do these quick sessions with a few dynamic stretches each time before I go out , it was so worth it .

The run was as smooth as you like , really chuffed , it was blowing a gale and cold but it felt good .

Very choppy seas today , lots of seagulls just coasting in the wind and gorgeous blue skies with puffy white clouds scuttling by 🌀☁️☁️

The losing my groove bit is when I turn around and it’s a tight turn and I lose the rhythm.

I found today I had hit that rhythm for almost the entire time so I was very conscious of it β€˜going’ and having to find it again .

So overall pleased to have gotten out , pleased that after a week the run was so comfortable and pleased to see some steady improvement in distance , time and my heart rate.

Hopefully I’ll find a new routine because the benefits of getting out there are just huge.

In terms of runs 9 , 10 , & 11 ?

Run 9 - horrid , I did my 30 minutes , did 4K but didn’t enjoy the environment.

I had gone into town to walk daughters dog, there’s a beautiful big bypass with lovely trees lining it that lots of town runners use and I thought well , I bet there’s a good 4/5 k on that.

Big mistake 😱 a bypass is built for cars ( πŸ™„doh !πŸ™„) so obviously lots of cars, noise and of course all the town runners ..... just not for me , I did my 30 mins / 4K but all of it in a bad mood 😑 .

Probably my worst run ever , ready to give up at 10 , 15 and 20 mins πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Run 10 was a good one , back home on my coastal route . I made sure I enjoyed it to restore my confidence , kept pace very steady throughout and felt good.

Stretched out to 4.5 k as it was feeling comfortable

Run 11 , again a good run, same route and did 4.5 k again in a better time too.

It was a glorious day , quite mild and on this run I decided to have a different sort of run. It dawned on me that Not all runs have to be just β€˜a to b β€˜ without stopping , not always a β€˜set piece’ . So half way to the lighthouse I stopped to take a photo and then when I got to the end of the road I sat for five minutes watching the sea, the boats and the birds .

Then got up and ran the second half home !

It was great , very relaxed .

So although my routine has slipped I’m still β€˜in it’ and the improvement is happening I think, nothing dramatic but each run is either easier , longer in time or longer in distance , just getting better maybe ?

Today though reminded me just how much I like it and how good it feels πŸ˜πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Photo .... β€˜Still hanging in there πŸ˜‚

Oh gosh! πŸ˜‡β˜ΊοΈπŸ˜¬...but then I am a lady of leisure [snort!]...having retired. My only constraints at the moment is the weather πŸ™„β›ˆ

...but hey! You got out there and ran! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Oh yes, street running...ok when there is no other option...but *not* the route of preference 😩

...so...the freedom of running...a plan is good, but you don’t have to abide strictly by it. Taking the time to watch the sea or smell the flowers is a more than reasonable diversion πŸ₯°

Fabulous...enjoy πŸ˜ŠπŸŒπŸ’πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ‚πŸ§‘πŸπŸŒŠβ›΅οΈπŸŒΈπŸ¦†πŸ„πŸŽ

I find so many things that resonate here. I am on consolidation runs but having to build back up to 5k. I think I was obsessing with got to be 5k then decided right 2 miles good anything above it a bonus. However, backache and knee/calf pain meaning after 2 runs last week don’t feel ready to go again just yet. I think I need to enjoy looking at the sea and then restarting to get home - unfortunately all uphill! Still happy though as at 66 never thought I would manage what I have.

Keep running still think it’s the best thing ever πŸ‘πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ‘

You are of course correct , how brilliant is it to actually be able to run πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Up until the age of 61 I’ve said β€˜no can’t run’ yet here I am.

I only ever did 5k by end of wk9 but pushed ( and I mean pushed !) myself to it on CR2 & 3 .

It wasn’t how I wanted to run though , ending up out of breath with a πŸ… face.

I went back and have now steadily added time or distance ( never both ) to now running the new 5k in a comfy enjoyable fashion πŸ‘

Hope the knee pain improves to let you get back out .

Definitely have runs you enjoy though , I think if we keep doing that the progress happens πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Oh fab, what a brilliant way to turn an almost disaster into a great run! Interesting about dancing round the kitchen before hitting the mean streets (well, ok, coastal path!)

Must try that when I get back out there.

When it comes to turning around, I start looking around for a wider area so I can slow down and run round an invisible mini roundabout, rather than just trying to switch direction. It does mean that it probably won't be at the exact half way point though, but that's ok.

Thank you πŸ˜‚ yes it was actually doing these excercise sessions on you tube that made me think I could maybe do C25K . All the running round the kitchen added up to 15 mins so I thought who not let’s get out on those mean streets before I get dizzy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Think you’re right Re the turning , the route does have passing places so I’ll just carry on until I get to one .πŸ‘
