Another lunchtime outing and I got a PB - my fastest paced 4.5k

I was going to wait until tomorrow to go out for a run because I’ve got the day off but work was getting on my wick so I went out at lunchtime.

Nowt remarkable at all about the run except for the fact that I shaved 2 seconds off my (lamentably slow) fastest pace. Too embarrassed to publish the numbers but that doesn’t detract from my sense of achievement.

Happy running, people 😊😊😊

Thank you. I guess I forget that it’s quite a long way - it’s easy to forget that when you see the distances other people manage. Aren’t we all daft - comparing ourselves with other runners. I do it all the time when I should just enjoy my own achievements 😊

As I said to someone the other day - comparison is the thief of joy. Post your numbers and be proud! They’re better numbers than 24/7 on the couch. Well done you.

Thanks - that puts things in perspective 😊

Sounds like a good day all round if you managed to achieve a pb as well as get through a rubbish day at work.. I’m assuming as you’ve posted this you did make it to the end of the day without quitting..😂

Enjoy your day off..😊

I did. Am too near to retirement to ever quit! I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction 😂 And in reality, it wasn’t so awful. I’ve had worse days and there are plenty of people having it harder than I am at the moment. 😊

Very sensible.. I made exactly that mistake by flouncing out two years ago, and I’ve still got two years to wait for my pension.. But the reality was I couldn’t take any more, so my only regret is financial, being dependent on my husband for the first time in my life. If it’s not so bad, definitely best to stick with it.. right now, as you say, we all have to be thankful for whatever we have..😊

Hey! Well done! It’s *your* pb, no one else’s...so well done.

Sometimes you just have to go out and run...isn’t it fab that we have this way to let off steam and feel good about ourselves.

Happy running 🐌🐢🏃🏻‍♀️🍂🧡🍁🥰

Woohoo for your PB JetsNanna! 😄

Never be embarrassed about your pace - you are running so much faster than everyone on the couch. (...but I understand that feeling- I am a double snail - but hey, I used to be a triple snail! 😂)

I decided to focus on...

1. enjoyment

2. duration/ distance...& then merely notice gradual change in pace as an interesting by- product!😂

That’s the aim - to keep going, to keep enjoying the achievements and to keep hoping that maybe a byproduct of that is improved pace. Thanks for the response. 😊
