Trying to get my head back in the game

So for the first time I’ve had 3 days in between a run and found it so hard and exhausting today. Graduated about 2 1/2 weeks ago now and I’ve been alternating 5K and 30mins every other day up until this week. I stopped running too just short of 30 mins which i was annoyed at myself for but i just felt so exhausted. Had a bit of a cold the last few days, so putting it down to that - Determined to carry on but just finding the motivation a bit harder now especially after the announcements yesterday. Hope everyone else is okay and managing to power through despite the news.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Your cold is probably to blame. Certainly having three days between runs is of no significance and you will not lose any noticeable condition in the first two weeks of non running.

Recover fully to enjoy your running.

Hi Wendymirage,

I graduated on 23rd August and I've done 23 runs since then. Most of them have been good, but a few of them have been dreadful!

I think (for me) that will always happen, so I'll look fondly on the good ones, and accept that some runs are just pants.

Keep going and let us all know how it goes.
