Running Gear and Tiny Sizes!

Didn't run today. The rain didn't stop, and I don't own a running waterproof running jacket. Went online to buy one but most of the ones recommended by runners world and so on were already out of stock, and it also appears that only thin people are allowed to buy expensive running gear (I've been sheltered up to now it seems by getting me stuff from the fabulous M and S!)

Anyway my gruntle is well and truly dis'd. I've ordered a Salomon in their biggest size and I'm still not convinced that's going to fit. I'm only a 22 ffs.... what happened to all the empowering adverts about EVERYONE getting fitter... I wouldn't mind but thinness is no measure of fitness anyway!!

Anyone know of a big-girl running-gear shop?

So I've missed today but it won't kill me, and it's half term next week thank goodness, so I can run in the daylight! Love to all, hope your running journeys are going well x

Sizing of women’s running gear really is diabolical. Was saying just the other day that I don’t understand the aim of the sports companies.

Are they trying to make me feel so bad about my body that I want to run more and therefore need to buy yet more gear?

The big players like Nike and Adidas seem to offer fab plus size ranges and there’s a site I’ve come across called sportshoes.com who have a massive range of everything a runner needs in every size. Some barginous prices on there too👌🏼

There was a news article a few days ago about lots of sportswear brands being out of stock, or at least low on stock, so that’s not going to help.

So it seems we will all need to stock up, otherwise there’ll be nothing to wear!

I must admit I have never thought about getting a waterproof jacket, as I don’t mind running in the rain, in fact I’m about to go now. It’s the wind that puts me off.

Thank you, I didn't know that about there being a shortage, that might explain some of it! I'll have a look.

Yeah I mean the chances are I'll just take it off five minutes in but the idea of getting totally soaked on the walk before I've even started is not very appealing. I ducked it completely yesterday so if it gets me out that would be better than not!

I ran in the rain in the summer and that was nice but I'm not good being cold, it makes me miserable!!

That is a good point about the walking parts, so it is probably a good idea to get one, especially now the colder weather is here.

I have also seen it recommended that a cap is a good idea for keeping the rain out of your eyes (which reminds me I was going to get one) and in the summer it can help do the same with the sun.

There were hailstones on my run earlier, I certainly wasn’t expecting that and not in Cornwall either!

Ooo thank you that's worth a look. I know! It's just mad, it just seems like they want to put you off before you start!! x

Sizing is terrible. If you fancy splashing some serious cash fatladattheback.com have some rather swish women's stuff (obviously padded cycle shorts are no good but I find cycling tops good, that dip at the back that keeps your kidneys covered)

BUT do you need a waterproof running jacket? I've never got on with one, have never not regretted running in a jacket, and just run in normal clothes and get wet (if it is cold and wet I'll put a short sleeved t shirt on top of the long sleeved, I don't know if it is different in tech fabrics but I wear cotton)... and get changed when I get home.

Yeah I was just saying to Fitzy, the chances are I'll just take it off five minutes in to the run, but the idea of getting totally soaked on the walk before I've even started is not very appealing. I ducked it completely yesterday so if it gets me out that would be better than not! I didn't mind it so much in the summer but yesterday was cold and wet and windy and I just couldn't face it without a level of protection!!

They have some items covered in pictures of cake.

I do know what you mean about the walk - I'll typically opt to set off in woodland in such situations rather than somewhere more exposed, if I don't wimp out altogether.

Yeah that's a good idea! Or perhaps ten laps of my living room ha ha!

I was a size 16 and I couldn’t find ladies jackets to fit. I got a men’s size large in the end and that was fine. I actually prefer the length of it.

That's a good idea Tasha, thank you. I'll have a look at the men's ones too. xx

I've been out wearing a bin bag. Much cheaper than buying a "running" jacket.

Did you make sleeves? :-)

Unfortunately not, but they come in loads of colours😂😂😂😂

Certainly the right time of year for it too, it doubles as trick or treat attire 👌🏼🎃 😁

Running in the rain ! It wasn't heavy when I left the house, how ever ,the heavens opened still a fair distance back to home !As for a jacket , I have one that I got from Aldi ! It does what I need it too, but I can't help with sizing. Every thing I own feels like compression garments !Not sure they are supposed to lol
