Niggly knees and a walking remedy

Ran on Tuesday and it was uneventful except for the fact that I achieved my fastest pace for a 4K - pretty exciting for me personally but still daft slow.

Woke up Wednesday right as rain but after a very busy working from home day (meaning I sat in front of a computer all bloomin’ day) my knees were really sore. 100% my own fault - I know that I should make time to get up and move but I didn’t and I paid the price.

So it was ibuprofen gel and fingers crossed for today. Got up and realised that running wasn’t an option so I went for a brisk walk for about 30 mins and the knees eased up. Sat in front of the PC all day again and they felt okay so I told the husband I was going for my run. He advised against it so I went for a 50 min walk.

Bear with me because there is a point to all this tosh - I really had doubted that my running was any faster paced than my walking so.... I used Runkeeper to time the 50 min walk and see what my pace is and I am overjoyed.

The moral of the story is “Out of a bout of niggly knees can come the realisation that you are a less tortoise-like runner than you thought you were” or something like that - you know what I mean. 😉😉

It is official - I run a but less slow than I walk and I feel like I am winning 🏅🏆

Well done, but don't overlook the fact that if you run fast you will impart greater stresses on your knees.

Do yourself a favour and spend most of your running time at a nice gentle pace.

When I said “fastest pace” I should have been clear - it’s not ‘fast’ at all. Honestly. I see what you’re saying though - any push is bound to take its toll. Tomorrow morning will be a gentle plod again 😉

Huge flop! Went out, felt fine, thought I was going slowly and got my second fastest time 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t think I’d call that a huge flop! Well done! 😊
