They arrived this morning and they went on immediately and I was walking around the house all morning in them.
I just had to try these beauties out!!! Lunch break from work - maybe just enough time to fit in a 4k run in the woods, and crack run 2 of week 7 of the Magic Plan.
Shoes off - I can't put my running shorts on over the top of my shoes - kit on, shoes back on. Wait a minute....
I need to take a picture for my obligatory new shoes post π€¦ββοΈ
Sorry it was a bit rushed. I didn't have much time to spare....
Well - it was certainly muddy in the woods after all the recent rain! My poor new shoes! Look at what happened to them π±
This is the first time I've run in the woods for several weeks, after several reports of a worrying character lurking about looking for solo women. I've really missed it.
I so wanted this 4k to be a lovely relaxed run, through the lovely woods, in my lovely new shoes, but boy this was a tough one π₯΅ My heart rate climbed right away and didn't drop at all throughout the run. It was slow running and really hard work. On this basis I won't be anywhere near 10k anytime soon. π¨
As for the shoes?
I love them! π₯°π₯°π₯° Like all the Salomon walking boots/shoes I have had before, they are so comfy right out of the box. They are nice and light and felt really grippy on the soft muddy surfaces of the minor paths, and at home on the harder surface of the main dirt/gravel paths as well.
So I'm really not happy with that run βΉ but I am super happy with my new runners ππ

Those lovely blue shoes won't be blue for long, they will be mud grey, however, if you scrub them about 15 minutes after you get home from a run they will look blue again.
Well done on your run today Birdlady64 although you say it wasn't your best run. the main thing is that you enjoyed running in your new running shoes. π ππΎ
Well done on getting out there and christening your new shoes. May be looking to getting a pair of trail shoes myself if I can manage to stay injury freeπ
Well, your lovely new shoes have been well and truly christened! πββοΈπ
But maybe you canβt judge your ability to run 10K on the basis of a tough, muddy run through the woods π
Maybe thereβs something in the air regarding heart rate - I could not get mine down this morning and there wasnβt a fisherman in sight! According to Garmin I was 52% of my 5K run in Zone 5. With your run it sounds plausible that your heart rate would go up, but my run was on the road and pretty flat.
No, Iβm sure the stats are wrong. Going to increase my MHR setting again in Garmin. My last km was the fastest, but it wasnβt exactly speedy at 8:08. Weβll get it sorted one day π
Thank you. Yes it was lovely to run in the woods again. The colours and smells at this time of year are pretty special. There are lots of chestnuts this year.
