So after 2 days off and still smiling from graduation on Sunday π I thought Iβd better get out there again. The weather overnight had been as wet here as at home and it was still chucking it down this morning βοΈπ¦ Iβm so lucky that I havenβt had to run in the rain yet. A window of opportunity presented itself at about 1pm and with the temperature rising again out I went. Iβve decided that for at least 3 weeks Iβm just going to repeat 30 mins. before I change anything and thank you to everyone offering helpful advice π
I thought Iβd just repeat W9R3, stick with Jo, use the same route as Sunday and go with my graduation playlist πΆ Iβd been concerned that Iβd feel flat after the elation of Sunday but none of it π I was keen to get out again but it did feel sort of weird knowing that Iβd been let loose and as RacingintheStreet mentioned, it felt as though I had my βPβ plates on π Thankfully the π¦were on my side so I didnβt have to run round and round as I did on Sunday! The run went pretty well until the last 5 minutes when I started feeling very warm π₯΅ and I knew by the change of shape of my fingers that the humidity was rising (they look like podgy sausages when itβs humid π) I slowed down even more π’ and was absolutely thrilled when Jo told me that I was Champion of the World again π€£ sadly no more fireworks but Iβll forgive her for that.
I walked home and having realized that it was 17 deg and 85% humidity I was astonished to find that Iβd covered 4.4 km in the 30 minutes. Thankfully my fingers have returned to their normal size πand this time I rehydrated in the correct manner π
Hopefully C2 on Friday....happy running everyone πββοΈπββοΈ

Have just seen your post, Iβm very lucky that Iβve never had a stitch (yet!) but others do post about them especially early days. Iβm no expert but would say make sure you drink lots of water, Iβve never drunk so much in all my life, do the dynamic exercises before, the warm down stretches after and run slowly π’π The C25K guide is invaluable, oh and make sure you have at least one rest day in between! Hope youβre able to complete W1 soon so good luck and keep posting ππββοΈ
Thanks Lottie πI rather surprised myself π€·ββοΈ I think maybe Runkeeper is fooling me π
Iβm going out with my husband, hopefully on Sunday for the first time π¬ Iβve told him only 30 minutes and π’π π but he knows the distances so will double check on his Fitbit. Itβs quite helpful now to get a bit of a benchmark for distance covered as itβll help me plan future runs. I havenβt run a whole 5k yet but eventually thatβs what Iβd like to be able to achieve....might join you on the (not) park run one day π
Wot, no fireworks π₯ π π³ Jo definitely owes you, big time π hope you at least got the confetti π
Am not expecting to feel full of energy every run π and Iβm certainly not by the end π€£ but am taking it one run at a time. Reading the posts about the experiences of you lot a week or two ahead of me was so useful with preparation, expectations and getting my head in the right space ππ
I just completed my 1st Consolidation run this morning too. I've also decided to continue with the Wk 9 Run 3 runs for a while as I'm not ready to break up with Michael Johson yet; I like to think we are good friends now πππ€£
I wasn't feeling at my absolute best but picked a good mantra and ran with it and feels good to have done it!
Glad you had such a good follow up run and sounds like you wonβt be wearing those βP platesβ for too long ...... brilliant distance πππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
I think youβre wise keeping the consistency of the 30 min runs anΒ£ see where they take you .
I wasted my first week of runs βfaffing aboutβ but Iβm now on the β 30 minute straight and narrowβ .
Feels better and will give me a βlike for likeβ comparison if everything is the same .
Hope all your runs are as good as this one , but a run is a run even the βnot so goodβ ones. Important just to keep going out there I think π€ ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Yes I agree, keeping going is definitely the thing π and Iβve learnt so much from yours and others experiences too π
Unfortunately C2 wasnβt so good ππ but C3 yesterday, the first run with my husband, was a goodie π Am just accepting that some will be better than others π€·ββοΈand thatβs ok π
Sounds like a great run and we'll done on your graduation! There's a strange freedom to the first consolidation run isn't there but I did the same as you; I still used the app even with the noticeable lack of fireworks haha! Best of luck with your next run. I'm sure you'll smash it.
Ps. Thank you for making me aware that there is a tortoise emoji haha. Id never seen this little guy before π’
Thank you Pnegirl π Iβve learnt a lot from those of you a couple of weeks ahead of me, all very helpful π
Yes, isnβt he cute π’π₯°
Have just seen your post. Sorry about the βοΈ, will be interested in your replies, Iβm thinking of using it as Iβm afraid Jo and I have now fallen out π€·ββοΈ I have no aspirations to run further than 5K but do like a coach in my ear!
Hope the weather improves and you can get out again soon, looks like youβre doing really well with your running πββοΈπ
