Going slow Making Sense πŸ‘

β€’13 Replies

Quite by chance I read a thread on HU, and well, in a nutshell I slowed my runs down. I concentrated on keeping within different zones rather than going off like a whippet πŸ‘ it works. Longer distances are feeling easier, hills don't require as much effort to get up them. But even though focusing on slower running, you strangely don't lose that speed, the mystery of running hmmmm.

Only managed a 5k today missed alarm and teenagers etc but I squished it in and sooooo glad.

The VO2 tells me I'm in the superior category...... Really haha but I'm taking it for now..

Perhaps I'll stick to this running, as well I like it πŸ™‚

If you try it you may like it to..... What's stopping you? Get out there happy healthy running you lot ...

But but but Elfe5 I stayed or tried to stay rooted in zone 3 😟

I have no idea what β€˜zone 3’ is, ( I guess something to do with heart rate, but I don’t track that so it’s a mystery), but you obviously enjoyed your run which is all that matters. Go you! πŸ˜„πŸ‘πŸ»

I do relate to slowing down making everything easier but not taking significantly more time - I just happen to be doing that in the double snail league! (But this is an achievement, I used to be a triple snail!πŸ˜‚)

The speed of a snail should never be underestimated Elfe5

I was going to say slow is the way to go - then I saw your idea of slow!πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†

Glad you're enjoying your running, and a lovely part of the world to run in. πŸ‘

Your "slow" is my "very fast" - and I've speeded up since I started C25K five months ago!

β€’ in reply toCmoi

Cmoi the good thing is you're running whatever the speed πŸ‡or πŸ’πŸ‘

True, but I thought I was doing OK until I read your post. Not your fault I hasten to add, it's my problem: I'm very competitive with myself, and also terrible for comparing myself to others, regardless of how ridiculous and unhelpful that might be! :)

I have done exactly the same, slowed down my runs to lower my heartrate for about the last 3 weeks. I finish feeling almost fresh and could carry on for longer. The only downside is I wonder if I will ever be able to speed up again πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

β€’ in reply toMaz1103

It's not a worry to worry about Maz1103 your legs won't have lost your initial speed, and I found that speeding up is feeling easier and more relaxed πŸ‘
