When buying running shoes, especially for the first time, we are likely to make some mistakes. Many think, I certainly did, that all you should consider is the shoe design, colour and price. And I got proven wrong and got injured as a result (at least I got the colour that I wanted). Good shoes can help you run in comfort, bad ones can lead you to the land of injuries. In my latest blog you can find out what 5 running shoes buying mistakes I managed to identify, which may turn your shoe shopping into a better experience than it was for me. Check it out!

How to buy running shoes?
Nice blog. Which shop made the insoles for you? I wear custom-made orthoses (£££).
I went to my nearest, Profeet in Fulham, SW London. They look after skiiers as well. The whole process was handled by actual runners and they know their job. The insoles were not cheap, cost more than the shoes but I haven't had any shoe/insole related injury in four years, and that is what counts. The main reason I didn't visit them when I started running was the price. I ended up caughing up way more than that to the doctor who was fixing my knee.
I shied away from orthoses back in 2005 due to the cost, but 10 years later, they were unavoidable (knee issues). However, they allowed me to finally run after a gap of 20+ years!
Yep. My hips were thrown off balance and the pressure went on one knee and it gave in. Fun times. I thought I would never be able to run. 3 years later a marathon, another year later I completed an ultra. Both knees as good as new. Whowever came up with that technology should be knighted.
