Well I’ve finished week 7 this morning which has been a plodding kind if week. I found the 25 min runs a bit of a case of mind over matter as well as having to constantly remind myself TO RUN SLOWER otherwise there is no way I’ll get to the end of the run 🏃♂️.
I have had to face a new hazard this week - mud on the road. I’m not talking about a little bit muddy, I’m talking thick mud 1-2cm thick across the whole of the road. The maize 🌾 harvest has just come in followed by planting a winter covering, which has resulted in the tractors unloading the mud on their tyres onto the road. Considering there is only about 500m of pavement on my route, most of which is in the warm up walk, mud on the road is a bit of an issue. So I found myself skidding along a bit, in addition to that my trainers suddenly became about twice as heavy. Let me tell you the Herefordshire mud is certainly sticky! Luckily if I turn around at the half way bell 🔔 rather than doing the loop I miss the majority of the mud. All part of the joys of living in the country 😬.
On a more cheery note my shiny new Garmin 45s arrived Friday (thank you Amazon prime day). Apart from making the rookie mistake of not staying GPS until the start of the run instead of during the warm up and so lost the first minute and a half of the run (I won’t be making that mistake again) I’m loving all the charts and stats.
On an even brighter note whereas in the previous 3 runs when I had told Jo to do one when she cheerfully suggested that I could run faster for the last minute, today I actually did and it felt great 😀🏃♂️🙌💪
