Week 7 run 2... rain and mud πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Well got myself out again this morning and after a couple of tough runs in the heat i was actually excited, rather than put off by the rain!! Waited for it to ease a little and off i went...

I usually take 1 of 2 routes that run parallel to each other - one is a country road, the other is a footpath. I prefer the footpath as its quieter, but as it was raining i thought i'd try the road as its a bit closer.... first 10 mins went great and felt full of energy, so i thought i'd be super daring and try a cut through to the other track and do a loop for a change... big mistake...

this cut through goes along the edge of a corn field and although ive walked it plenty of times, i forgot a)how uneven the ground is and b)thats its been raining for 24hrs 😱😱. My oh my....

Within seconds my feet were getting heavier and heavier with thick mud... nightmare. Had to endure this for about 10mins which undoubtedly slowed me down! But.... i did get to the other track and the sheer desperation to get to drier ground kept me moving!!

Was so glad when i finally reached the end of this run! Will not be running through mud again any time soon!! πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ Bonus side is that I felt like it went quite quickly given the distractions! Also realised that its sooo much easier in cooler weather. Just annoyed as I think i would have covered more ground if i had just stuck to the road!

Ah well... you live you learn. Run complete. 1 more left and then onto week 8... nearly there!!

Great job completing this one. Mud is very hard work, sapping energy with each step... you beat it! Mud is also a great workout for the calves, so there’s a reward for your determination right there.
