Iโm an evening running convert it seems ๐๐
Tonight I got a bit better organised , waited until just before dark and the streetlights came on and off I went .
When I went out the other evening I really just ran around and had to do a few loops to get the time in but also keep within lit areas but I did โeye upโ some potential roads .
So tonight I ran along a sort of main road ( well lit not too busy but with enough regular traffic passing) that links my village to the next.
Itโs barely 800 metres long but maintains the separate identities of the two villages ( very important) ๐ for me it provided somewhere new to go to clock up a bit of time .
Like many others the first 8/10 minutes always feels as though I have made no progress at all and I might not actually be able to do it. By 15 minutes all is well and I seem to be managing a steady ( and improving pace ) . I think going slowly that first 10 is crucial for me after that my pace does quietly increase over the km but more importantly I feel comfortable and enjoy it .
I did the 5 k again but Donโt find that last 400 m that comfortable and Iโm aware Iโm pushing it , not entirely sure why . I think now I know I can do it that I might make the next couple of runs 4km and work on being โeffortlessโ , I havenโt forgotten my role model โswan ladyโ runner that I so admired ๐๐
Used the Nike app again and went back to making my own playlist to shuffle ,
Highlights tonight were
โMeet me on the Corner - Lindisfarne
Jack and Diane -John Mellencamp
When we were Young - The Killers
Songbird - Fleetwood Mac
The River - Bruce Springsteen
Let Your Love Flow - The Bellamy Brothers
American Pie - Don McLean Thanks LottieMW for reminder ๐
With three consolidation runs done now I seem to have gotten my feeling of โlooking forward to the next one โ back .
Although that is always easy to say just after the euphoria of having just done a run ๐๐๐
Oh and well done Rafa ๐
Oh and โDecember 63 oh What a Nightโ -Frankie Valli too๐

Whoop whoop ๐๐ป youโre smashing these consolidation runs !
A wonderful photo too. Iโm like you, the first 8 mins I wonder if I can complete 15 mins let alone 30 mins. But, then I fall into a comfortable pace.
Love your song choices too. The River is my favourite Bruce Springsteen song ๐.
Jack and Diane....great song, Iโd forgotten all about that one. Iโm a morning runner, but I can see the attraction of an evening run too, the streets are quiet again and apart from a few dog walkers theyโre all yours. Another 5k in the bank....how about a Nike Run Club app 6k next time, Iโve done a few of those and theyโre not such a stretch from 5k ๐ค
Youโre absolutely right and I am very mindful of it.
I want swan lady more than 5k anyway ๐
Having done it twice I think Iโll now just do my 35 min Coach Bennett run which brings me in at 4.6km and then let things progress themselves ๐๐
I was walking Cooper on the shore today, tide was not long out and stones a bit slippy here and there ... I was so cautious because I kept thinking โno injuries please ! โ youโd think I was an elite athlete !๐
But yes that would halt consolidation in its tracks ๐๐
Have you checked in with roseabi on the October consolidation run post? Sheโs dishing out great advice on how to increase pace.
Yes, itโs funny how your mindset changes, anyone would think Iโm preparing for a marathon next week ๐คฃItโs good though, I like feeling so.. focused. Far better than the alternative when I was a lazy lump on the sofa.
I think Iโm now going to truly โconsolidateโ I.e do a few 35 minute runs and finish there ( usually about 4.6km ) . If I control my pace on first 1-1.5 km it naturally increases with each further km . I find this miraculous ๐
I think if I really wanted to increase pace Iโd do those interval type things ( which I donโt find appealing ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ)
Graduates before us seem to go onto mixing it up and perhaps doing two short then one long run etc.
I know I need to build up stamina and endurance so I will knock the 5km โmalarkeyโ on the head for now and just run ๐๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Banging tunes ๐ and oh yes I couldnโt agree with you more...well done Rafa ๐ awesome performance ๐๐
Great photo again and sounds like a good run, sounds lovely to be able to run between two villages. I finally braved my ankle and did a little 15 min ๐ข๐ test jog late this afternoon. Having always run in the morning. I think I might too be a โlaterโ convert ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Great sound track! Frankie Valley! Great dine to end on ๐. I really feel that last 500m too. The advice I got was to run further to make 5k seem effortless so when Iโm off the IC Iโm going to carry on trying to do just that. Can I ask about the Nike run app? Iโve tried it a couple of times but my music in the background drowns out the commentary. Any suggestions? Thanks
Thanks ๐ถ not sure re your Nike app and music issue ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ Iโm quite new to the app but I get my playlist going then go into Nike app and start the guided run . When coach Bennett starts talk8ngbthe music goes low and then comes back up when he stops talking ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
So glad I could be of help with the ๐ถ...itโs a good pace once it gets going (and long!) Ooo...Lindisfarne...havenโt listened to โFog on the Tyneโ for *ages*...they actually sing in a key that I can sing along to with no problems ๐ฌ
