I was just wondering, do people actually run when it is pouring down with rain or do you run when it’s a light shower? Weird question but just wondering the type of rain shower people run in..... ha that sounds sooo odd
Running in the rain: I was just wondering, do... - Couch to 5K
Running in the rain
Both.
I tend to wait for it to ease off it it’s pouring down as light rain doesn’t bother me at all - quite refreshing if it isn’t cold - but I think heavy rain would be a bit miserable.
Yeh I was kind of thinking the same.. would it be enjoyable to run in pouring rain but with our weather seeming to consist of mostly rain lately, I was wondering if I should just get out there in it
Get a mini trampoline and run on that inside. I was doing really well on the podcasts til I fell down the stairs and sprained both ankles back in May. Now almost back to normal although my therapist won't allow me yet to train til the pain and inflammation has lessened. My freedom is my bike, that I'm allowed to do thank god!!!
I don’t start out in torrential rain, but quite like running in light rain.
Trouble is, I’ve been caught out, when light rain turns into torrential rain! Then all you can do is carry on running and laugh 😂
I hate it when you get home and have to peel off clothes that are completely saturated. Not fun! But then the hot shower feels divine ......😀
Personally I don't really like running in the rain, however, I ran 10 miles in July and it rained for most of the run, it didn't cause me any harm whatsoever, but if its lashing down I'll wait until the rain goes off before I run, there are a few runners on this forum who love running in the rain ☔.
I’m solar powered and find it hard to get out in the rain, however when I’ve been caught out I’ve enjoyed it. Just so long as you’re warm enough...
Ahhhh now Issywhizz we in Wales favour the wet kinda of rain 👍🌧️.
Either the drizzly- mizzle that sneaks up on you and quietly soaks you whilst you're unaware, or the full blown Welsh traditional downpour. As long as my running loop/route doesn't leave me too far from home and a dry towel all's good 🙂
I’m a wimp and won’t go out in the rain, but if it starts when I’m out there I’ll carry on. It’s been everything from a fine drizzle to absolute downpour and I have to admit, it can be fun. ⚠️ running in a hailstorm hurts 😬
I ran last week in a biblical downpour. Was completely drenched. And it was my favourite run to date! Empty streets, didn’t get too hot and totally joyous. I’m aiming to run tomorrow again when it looks like heavy rain, however this time, I will leave a towel by the front door before I set out!
I don't mind leaving the house for a run if it's just a bit of light rain, but if it's heavy then no way lol! If it starts raining heavily when I'm already out for my run then it doesn't bother me as it's quite refreshing but the thought of purposely leaving the house when it's torrential...
Im new to running on wk 6 now i like running in the rain and the cooler weather.🙂
I don't especially like running in the rain, wearing glasses it's a bit of a pain tbh having to either keep wiping them or take them off and risk bumping into stuff! Rain in itself isn't too bad, but the combo this time of year of rain and cold gets into my arthritic shoulder and causes me quite a bit of pain. So, given the choice, I'd rather wait for it to go off!
Running in the rain is not my favourite pastime! 😠 I try to wait for a light shower window but as others have said - you can get caught in a downpour! ☔️ I just keep repeating in my head that ‘I’m waterproof’ and push on! I have to wear either a baseball cap 🧢 or a beanie to stop water pouring down my face which is my number one pet peeve of running in the rain. The key is get home in the dry, peel your saturated clothes off and stretch in a hot shower! 🚿
