Ok, I was slowly increasing my distance when September happened.....
Had a week off for a bad cold, then child was sent home from school on his 7th birthday as he’d been in contact with covid, then he tested positive for said virus. So I was faced with no running for 2 weeks quarantine. I’m allowed out from Tuesday, not counting honest....
Wondering how I’ll manage and decided to write this random post....

That fitness will still be with you, just ease back into it👍
I bet Tuesday can’t come soon enough! Hope the lad is ok... and that he hasn’t had a rough time.
The answer to the question varies from person to person. All we can really do is go find out. Any fitness you have lost is likely to be slight. I’d just go out nice and slowly and see what happens, stopping myself at 5k but not hanging any expectations on the run. It’s a chance to just go enjoy being able to get out there again. Have a wonderful time.
Even if you've lost a fraction of your fitness, getting back to 5k (or 30 minutes) will not be an uphill struggle. First run may be a bit rusty then you'll pick it up quickly.
I think you'll be fine. You might want to start with a couple of shorter runs initially, but honestly, you won't have lost fitness on that period. I had 7 weeks put woth an injury and it took me about 6 runs to get back to doing 5k that's all. Good luck
If it was injury, I'd be advising caution. As it's just a cold and a period of inactivity, just go out and see what you're capable of, but don't overdo it.
