It still takes me around five minutes to settle down , just start nice and steady.

Totally. Plus it takes my brain a good 5 minutes to stop demanding I stop this nonsense and get a cab.

Yes, reckon it is, start off slowly and get into your rhythm which’ll be in around 5 mins.

Depending on how fast and comfortable you wish to run it might be worth checking out Japanese Slow Running - niko, niko !
