Tinnitus/Jogging

Hey guys,

Strange one and maybe no correlation but since I’ve started jogging I’ve developed tinnitus.

It’s now constant. I get a kind of whooshing sound a bit like static in time with my heartbeat. It’s kind of annoying!!

Any other sufferers?

Any coping mechanisms greatly received!

Thanks

Are you sure its not blood pressure? That can sound like a whooshing nice

I suppose it could be. Is that bad being able to hear it?!

I have high blood pressure and when my medication was being adjusted I could at times hear a whooshing sound I was told that was contacted to blood pressure. You could have yours tested, a chemist can do that for you, I'm assuming they still can, it might just sound louder with head phones on. If it's a new issue I would always seek some help to find out what it is

It appears a lot louder when I have my headphones in. Suppose I’ll have to learn to live with it.

Yes I have tinnitus the rushing of the blood in my right ear and ringing in left. Unfortunately only CBT can help you channel your brain to distract yourself from it.

Music audio books help a lot. I find after a long time on computer it is worse.

Sorry to hear that. Can you do CBT at home? As long as I tell my brain it’s fine then I’m hoping it will be less noticeable.

I've had mild tinnitus since 2003. Most of the time I can ignore it.

And when you can’t? Go for a run or punch yourself?

I also have tinnitus,

It doesn't really bother me now unless I sit here and think about it .

Mostly I can just ignore it

That’s the thing. I’m actively listening out for it 🙈 Hopefully that’ll pass 🙏🏻

Yeah I'm not usually aware of it , but just now reading your post made me notice it, or sometimes lay quietly in bed I'm aware of it

Do you just zone out now?

I just don't pay any attention to it , mostly I just forget about it until it sometimes changes frequency, then I suddenly remember I have tinnitus 😂

I have it, too. Especially when I wake up suddenly in the night. The first time it happened, I thought it sounded like an electric hum. I went round the whole house checking nothing was left on, even turning the fridge and freezer off then back on again, before I realised the noise was actually coming with me 😂. I hardly notice it at other times, and if it bothers me in the night, which it seldom does, I have the radio on really quietly.

I’ve done the same! Checking appliances when it was actually in my head. I think it’s bothering me a tad as there’s no escape. I’m sure I’ll get bored of it eventually. 🤞🏻

I only notice it if it’s really quiet, like in the middle of the night. And I forget about it most of the time anyway. You do get used to it.

I hear a whooshing noise in time to my heartbeat when my hay fever/ nasal congestion is bad - apparently if you have fluid in your ears you can hear your heart beat. (I did get my blood pressure checked just in case because it can be a symptom of that.) I do deliberately work at ignoring it when it’s there. 😄

I’m trying to tell my brain that the pulsing whoosh is just the waves lapping! It ain’t working lol

I've just read all the other comments and most people seem to think it is tinnitus. Hope you can learn to cope with it
