This was my ‘eureka run’ ........... FINALLY I got to that place where I was running at the ‘right ‘ pace for me . To be ‘just running’, just thinking about putting one foot in front of the other, breathing fine and simply enjoying it !

Thank goodness for that !

I’ve been trying for the last three runs to steady my pace and go slower , mixing it up with my playlists etc to try and not bolt off or be continually trying to pull back.

I have to say @acountrycabbage last post was just exactly where I wanted to be , such a good read too. I just wanted to go out and enjoy that 25 minutes too 😃

So today I got out of bed a bit reluctantly and with visions of another ‘sort of ‘ unsatisfactory run ( although I do continually remind myself of my performance not seven weeks ago trying to run for 60 seconds 🥵🥵 and as such should feel suitably pleased with myself .)

I hadn’t even put a playlist together such was my enthusiasm for R3 🙄

Once I’d gotten out though I did get some motivation back to try and make this run the one where it came right and didn’t run off on me again.

I just put an album on ( The Things that We are Made Of by Mary Chapin Carpenter) , a favourite American songwriter/singer who has the most sublime chilled smooth voice and who’s songwriting I have grown/Aged with. ( we are the same age and her lyrics resonate) . I’ve seen her in concert a few times when her tour was in the UK or in the Transatlantic Sessions.

If anyone was going to keep me chilled it was MCC.

I knew I had gotten my pace settled in the 20 min for wk5R3 so I knew I should be able to do it again .

I really really focused on getting off to a slow start which I did, I lost myself in some great lyrics & music , enjoyed the sunrise and only briefly at 20 mins did I feel anything but in tune with my feet & breathing .

Such a great feeling I was just running 🤷🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ And I know I’m not explaining it well but it’s all I ever wanted , maybe in the future I’ll run a longer distance or raise my speed but I started this just to be able to go out and run a loop round my village or down to the shore and then come home and feel brilliant .

In the last two minutes I was able to up my pace because I had kept my pace controlled for the previous 23 minutes .... that felt good too 👌

I am always thankful for the great posts in this forum because there are always little gems of wisdom to try out or just posts that make you feel good for the person who achieved a good run .

It all rubs off on you and inspires you to ‘have another go’ at whatever is eluding you .

Hope now I’ve grasped it I don’t let it slip 💫

Today’s photo is of a sleepy sunrise and my long and winding road

It’s such a great feeling when you get the pace and breathing right. I think it was W7R2 when it clicked for me. Not before the little pearls of wisdom and advice given from other fellow runners on this forum was given.

Glad you have had your Eureka moment. Good luck with your next run 😀👍🏻

Thanks and yes the forum is such a support 👌

What you ‘hear’ coming through these posts is invaluable and often inspiring . Not in a big dramatic way but just to raise your spirits a bit to have another go 😂🏃🏻‍♀️

Fantastic- well done. Hopefully I’ll get to experience that feeling too one day (still a few weeks behind). 💪👏

You absolutely will , just keep following the programme and keep it slow and steady 👌 the first couple of weeks I found were the worst , I was so ou5 of puff wk1 😂😂 now I’m running (jogging 🙂) 25 mins .

As are so many others and you will be there soon 😃👍🏃

Such a fantastic post! I'm so pleased you've found your comfortable pace and that you were able to enjoy the sunrise, the music and everything else. Great boost before embarking on week 8 😁

Thank you , and yes I’m happy and much relieved as I seem to have been ‘wittering on’ about my pace 🙄😂

I knew it was there in my runs , tangible but just eluding me .... very frustrating .

Now I just need to repeat It and not lose it again 😂😂

Good luck with your next one 👍

Now you've found it, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine! There'll be no stopping you! You certainly haven't been wittering either as it's such a tricky thing to pin down 🙂

I was both happy and mad with my run this morning. I think I've found my pace too now but I know I set off far too quickly and didn't really give myself time to settle in properly. I found the pace about halfway through but was more tired than I should have been. I know it's not about speed or distance just yet but due to being a bit faster, I was excited to see the stats at the end but I had another tech fail. I'm having a mare with that at the moment 😂

Oh that’s just brilliant! How absolutely fab for you 🙌🏼

...not so much ‘racing in the street’ as ‘jogging down the road’...😂

Go you!!! 👊

What a fantastic post. I could 'feel' that run in your description. Yes, that was the landmark run were everything clicked into place. It's a wonderful thing to experience and long may you continue to enjoy your running!

Thanks 😂 I am so relieved to have found it and sustained it for nearly the whole run . It makes sense of what all the previous runners have said . Slow it down ,get your pace and then you’ve a bit more to give at the end .

It did feel wonderful actually 😂 just want to hang on to that feeling now .

*The* most joyous post to read, I’m beaming for you! Congrats on your eureka run!! 🙌🏼 And thanks for the mention 🥰

Hadn’t heard of MCC before, listening now. Gorgeous lyrics; “Ginger cakes are served with tea, lovers orbit endlessly and your children march like soldiers” 💕 Thanks for the share!

Hope you can channel the same vibe heading into Week 8 😊 (And we said pace control might come after graduation..!) 🤣 NAILED IT! 🙌🏼🏃‍♀️✨

Thank you ! I was just so envious ( in a good way) of your last run and how Full of joy you were 😂

I have found the elusive comfy pace but the challenge of controlling it is very real.

Hope I can , it felt good 😃

Glad you liked MCC , I had actually forgotten that particular album but so many good tracks . Her lyrics are just so evocative on this life journey , whilst being so down to earth .. Favourite ‘on repeat’ tracks are ‘The Middle Ages ‘ (Resonates 😂) , ‘Note on a Windshield’ and ‘Hand on my back .

Anyway onwards and upwards to wk8 , lots of people around this Mark , so pleased to be apart of this lovely place ✨✨

Thank you and I hope your next runs are good ones too , not long to go !

I do enjoy my running route , could probably do to have a change But I feel confident on it ( no hills too 😂). It was good to just enjoy it today without constantly battling with my pace .
