W8R1--A nip in the air, and very welcome it was too :-)

Well that was a pleasant surprise. Went into this morning's run with the attitude "Why am I bothering, I'm not enjoying this. There's no point..yada..yada..yada" Couple of things not gone the way I wanted this week and frankly I'm just plain knackered, house moves- avoid them like the plague. BUT, I got up, rode the Kwak to work, went through the motions of putting my shorts and Brooks on and ambled out the door. I decided to tweak the routine a little, and waited until I was over half way up the hill before switching "Jo" on, that way, when she told me to start running I was fully at the top of the hill. I also decided it was about time that I just recorded my running distance and not include the warm up & down walk distances, so I didn't start my watch until Jo told me to start running.

It was so much cooler and less humid than it has been for the last half dozen runs, all of a sudden it felt good to be out at the crack of early, with a buzzard in low flight crying just in front of me. Instead of being dogged with niggles in shins, knees, hips, cheese on toast, :-) , for the first 5 to 10 minutes, they came and went almost in the blink of an eye and I quickly settled into a comfortable rhythm (correct spelling on second attempt today). I was surprised when the 5 minute mark popped up so quickly, at 10 minutes I was jogging along comfortably and was a little taken aback how good I felt at the half way mark, and actually shocked when I was told that there was 5 minutes to go and was able to stretch out my stride. I could have certainly go on when the 28 minutes were up, but didn't want to risk being sent to stand outside the headmaster's study. Yes, I know, the wonderful admins and ambassadors are just trying to make sure we don't figuratively kill our bodies and ensure that we get through to being injury free habitual runners :-).

On getting back and looking at the stats it was very pleasing to see that the bore out the fact that going slow, especially at the start is GOOD. My splits gradually came down as I relaxed into the run and I finished with a little left in the tank, although I was starting to slow a smidge at the end.

6'35", 6'31", 6'30", 6'02", 6'20". 4.38km @ 06'24/km avg.

The best bit was that I bloomin loved it this morning, it was so good to run without silly aches and pains.

All the best

Well done - I've just finished week 3 this morning so a long way behind but hope to one day have that contented running experience that you had today!

I love reading other people's experiences as it keeps me motivated, so thanks for posting.

Thanks Stone Dragon, your kind comments also lifted me. One of the things that I find is helping me on the hard runs is mentally composing my post 🥵Keep at it you are doing great..
