After my despondent post yesterday and the geeing up from you good people, I found a route and went out for about an hour just to enjoy some running and walking, no measuring distance, time pace etc. It was lovely. Feel so much better! So this was my 28th post grad run. The pic is Bamburgh castle from the lane I was on😊

Looks lovely. So good to run without any pressure to do anything other than enjoy it 😊

You picked a good picturesque route for that run. Good for getting back out, well done. It’s always more enjoyable with no pressure, in fact that’s when I find I do my best runs.

I've never explored that bit of the North East. I hope the weather is kind to you while you're there.

It's beautiful, the coast is stunning. Had lots of windy/rainy weather on this trip but it's been great!😃

Hi Blossom, I totally echo your feelings. I've not done a run since last Saturday and this is the longest that I've gone without a run since starting the programme. I spent Monday to Friday on the North East coast just a few miles south of Bamburgh and the weather has not been great, has it? Also I was feeling literally under the weather and gave in to it, had a very lazy week, read books, watched tv, felt guilty! So, forecast is good for tomorrow, that will be no excuse not to get those running shoes back on! :)

Hi, weather has been rubbish pretty much the whole of this holiday, which hasn't helped. But I'm so glad I got out there today. So I plan to get back into the old Mon, Wed, Fri routine next week. Don't you feel guilty tho. I think you know you'll get back to it 🏃‍♀️🏃

Such a shame about the weather but August is often rainy, not usually so windy though! I didn't feel like it, but I went out for a run at 8 am this morning, and it felt good! Back in the swing of it :)

Wow, Northumberland! I can’t understand why people go in such huge numbers to the crowded South West. Still, it’s better they’re kept in ignorance😉

Yup, living in the South West I wish they’d go somewhere else too!! 🤣🤣

But seriously there are some gorgeous places all round our lovely country yet millions flock down here and we just do not have the roads to take them all. It’s a nightmare going anywhere locally in the summer... traffic jams everywhere. I haven’t been to one of our beautiful beaches for about 20 years now because they are all about 5-10 miles away and take about 2 hours in the summer to get to them and park. My sister lives 5 miles away and it’s probably quicker to walk along the Tarka Trail to visit her than to drive as all the beach traffic bottlenecks in her village before going in different directions to different beaches.

Those darned emmets. 😉

We stayed near Bodmin a couple of years ago, about this time of year, near the Camel Trail. I wasn't running then. If we were there this year, I'd definitely be running along it.

I agree that traffic is definitely a problem once you're west of Redruth (and passing Truro, but the road is about to be improved there). We were there just as the season was ending. I hate to think what it's like in the peak of the holiday season.

They’m emmets in Cornwall, but grockles in Deb’m me dear!! We have enough trouble getting OUR council to repair the roads we have let alone building new ones and don’t get me started on clearing our drains!!! We had flash floods here last Monday - a months rain in an hour!! And our road turned into a river. For once I was lucky .. my house and next door were protected by our back garden walls but all the rest of our street had a river run down the road, through their back gardens, then their back doors and out the front doors. 2 feet of water. Because most of the drains are blocked up with mud and weeds. They are supposedly cleared on a 3 year tots but out of 14 drains along the street leading to ours and ours 3 were cleared this years and the rest were last done in either 2013 or 2014.

Some of the neighbours went out and cleared the one 2 doors down from me when the water went down and took out 2 recycling boxes full of mud, bricks, plastic bottles and weeds.

So many houses with great piles of sodden carpets and furniture outside now. And in several other places through the town. So sad!!

Yes we're from Devon (south) and heading back there. Currently in Thirsk having been up to Scotland in motorhome. But such beautiful places all over this lovely country to explore. We don't go out in the summer and this year has been particularly busy. One of the reasons we decided to go north 😊 Original plan was Spain 😞

Yes we've been up to Loch Lomond in the motorhome, pretty busy there! But there are other quieter places... We found Blackhall rocks this morning, just south of Sunderland, stunning! No one there.😊
