Successfully completed W9 final run this morning! I chose a nice route along a favourite stretch of a local canal and waited for a day when it wouldn’t be muddy. I had the bonus of a heron flying up from the water across my path.
I worked at keeping my pace slow and steady rather than trying to go further or faster. As a result it went very smoothly and was by far the best run I have done. Shows you don’t have to be a young ‘un to do this😊🏃♂️

Thanks! I don’t think I’ll be catching you up anytime soon. I got some stick when I said I’d pushed on to 5k in 40 min last week (For some reason I’d missed the 10% advice) I have been more careful since and am concentrating on being able to run slowly and enjoying it.
I think we all get a telling off at some point. It’s really just the bosses way of looking after us and ensuring we don’t get carried away and cause any injuries.
When I’ve got past the 20 minute point I feel I can go on and on, but I am being more prudent now. My real problem has been going too fast (for me) in the first 20. But this morning I managed to rein myself in😉
I just spotted this post today! HUGE congratulations on graduating. I hope you did a little something to mark the occasion. I treated myself to a fitness tracker. Now it's got me obessing about my sleep pattern and how many steps I've walked a day. lol.
Very happy for you and never had a doubt.
I'll see you over at the August consolidation club.
Many thanks for your reply! I celebrated by making a slideshow with impressive music and sending it to my family! I’m looking into possibilities for a running jacket, since summer may not be with us for long! Fitness tracker? I did buy a £10 stopwatch a few weeks ago, which has a display big enough to read without glasses, so at least I can see how I’m progressing. Maybe I’ll ask Father Christmas for something more sophisticated. 😊😀
