Hello lovely C25k community! Hope everyone is doing well and moving up those weeks towards running for 30 min!
I am now on my 22nd run after graduating, and still in awe of the programme, it’s communities and that I haven’t fallen off the wagon yet.
For me, discovering how to run slow was a game-changer, and it allowed me to enjoy - and really delight in - the running itself, not just the feeling of accomplishment of having finished another run!
I’ve found new beautiful routes, I’m still anxious of running any route with people or houses with potential eyes behind each window 👀 (therefore that section of my route is called tenements of terror), I still run early in the morning where almost no one is out and about, and I religiously do my stretches after running.
So far, no injuries, only the delight in experiencing that I could run even further! I’m ultra-slow, still overweight and I haven’t lost weight (which with Hashimotos Hypothyroidism is difficult anyway), but I feel so, so good, mentally and physically. And this - considering we’re going through the most dramatic national crisis in my lifetime - demonstrates the power of running.
So for all those C25ks, I wish you all the joy running that I have had, and then some more! Keep up those runs, those stretches and then just keep on keeping on!
