Post graduation/Consolidation run 26

Having not run for 9 days (due to an iffy knee) and with a poorly guinea pig, work being FULL on and being in tier 3 was all getting to me.

Sitting on the sofa, checking the weather, trying to analyse how I feel, I decided that I should just go out, 30 mins, put Jo Whiley on for encouragement, get a new playlist and try and do something.

Trying not to analyse everything as I go, I slowed up a lot in the last couple of K, just to keep myself moving. It became more about completing a 5k, then.

39 minutes (ish) later and 5K is done, with some singing done along the way. So feel good endorphins

I realised how much I miss music, like real LIVE music and dancing. This is the next best thing, I guess.

Came home to have brunch, a nice brew and pumpkin carving with the bin lids.... picture is of my creation 😊

Peace out βœŒπŸ•Š

Excellent run Plattszo, sub 40 minute 5K, congratulations, glad your knee is better and I hope your Guinea pig is better as well.

Being in tier 3 is annoying, where I am it's the same, however, we can still get out for runs as you did and I ran my 19th (not) parkrun this morning, I hope you enjoyed your brunch, nice photo of that pumpkin.

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Thanks Al!

I want to do a (not)parkrun and take part in that. Do you still get to see your ranking by age group etc? Will rope @Tinytears60 in as well!!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Plattszo

Yes, once you have registered with your local or the parkrun you wish to run, they will tell you age grading and ranking on the parkrun website, you tell them the time you ran it in, within a minute you will see your position and age grading.

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to AlMorr

A few years ago, I did a couple of park runs, but was a walk/run mix so I have my number and registered on my local run. Will aim to do it on Saturday next week. Thank you. Would be nice to see where I fit in the stats now 😊

... and you could get your friend Tinytears60, Jane to take part as well. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ

Well done Zoe !

I am also missing the live music ☹️

I had tickets for 2 gigs this year which of course aren't going ahead ! (In Manchester)

☹️

Well done with the run ! AND the pumpkin πŸ˜πŸ‘

Hi Ian.

We had a few things postponed... one of which was Nile Rodgers and Chic!! I cannot wait for that. Need to take note of when they have been organised for as 2021 as I'm worried we might miss something!

I am going to have a party night in ours I think. Get the old disco lights out and might invest in a smoke machine πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Great idea!

As to live music, during Autumn half term my local amateur drama group would normally be putting on a concert. My usual job would be to rig all the sound and lights, act as MC on the two evening performances, then de-rig.

I'd even done an arrangement of a medley of "flower power" songs for it.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to nowster

Sounds interesting !

You would love some of the sound and lighting I have seen at the Pink Floyd concerts over the years 😁

nowster profile image
nowsterGraduate in reply to Instructor57

The lighting is "Church Hall" type. Usually three options: centre spot for solos, front row for group songs, everyone lit. Making sure there aren't any dark spots is the important bit. Secondary is making sure that the performers can see their sheet music.

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to nowster

Sounds like an interesting job putting all of that together

nowster profile image
nowsterGraduate in reply to Plattszo

I usually take a day off work to do it. We often don't get more than an afternoon to prepare for the evening. It's mostly running around with ladders stringing up wires.

You definitely can’t have any dark spots- it’s where people sneak off to for a snog! πŸ˜˜πŸ™ˆπŸ€£πŸ€£

Well done getting out there Plattszo 🌟 I totally get what you mean about live music, I miss it too.

Fab pumpkin carving! 🧑

Thanks CC 🧑

With the music, I wanted it SO loud (and to drown out my heavy breathing). I had people turning to look where the (probably abysmal) singing was coming from 🀭😁

Ha ha, I am soo this person too which is why I love my quiet country lanes ☺️

Can’t stand to hear my breathing either, really throws me off my singing game - I mean running game.. 😬😬

Well done for getting out there - weather is grim but you found a dry window!

Today I have done nothing but...... EAT!!! πŸ™ˆ but in my defence I’ve been up since 6am πŸ™ˆ (not sure that is ANY defence πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ 🀣)

Great running!

Sounds like you needed to get out there today. Hope it cleared your head.

We are Tier2 which is pants enough..

I had guinea pigs when I was a kid - I loved them. I hope yours is on the mend soon.

Well done for getting out there despite all that is going on for you. Hope your guinea picks up soon - they are just the best pets for kids!

And the pumpkin is fab! πŸ™‚

Thanks Sandra.

The guinea pig has a swollen bladder, caused by either a UTI or bladder stones... just finishing off antibiotics right now. He's almost 5, so pensioner in guinea pig years, so going to be tough if we need to decide on surgery... he's comfortable right now, I feel.

He's really fun and the girls love him dearly πŸ’•

Nice to see a post from you. Well done for getting out there and achieving 5k after 9 days out - brilliant.

That after run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ feeling is always worth the effort.

We are in tier 2 but it’s ok, as I was β€˜shielding’ I am trying to keep away from people anyway.πŸ˜‚

Loving πŸ₯° the pumpkin πŸŽƒ. xπŸ’•

Hi Angie. Hope you are doing OK. I shouldn't grumble really, nothing is really THAT bad but some days it just gets inside my head.

The after run feeling has definitely lifted my mood. Thank goodness for running.

Thanks for the compliment on the pumpkin πŸ₯° I wanted to just do something with a positive vibe!

Take care. One day soon, this will all be over x❀x

Back in September I was really cross when I heard the news about the local lockdowns here in Wales as it felt like a right smack in the face hearing that!

Now until 9 November it's a national lockdown here and in some ways it's easier than last time as I have an idea of what to expect so today decided on a great 7 mile walk this morning dodging the showers which I enjoyed.

Well done on getting out there Zo, with all you’ve got going on at the moment.

2020 has been a right old fun sponge 🧽 of a year, so it’s nice that in such a crappy climate we’ve discovered running and how good it can make us feel.

A new playlist sounds good, I’ve added a few to mine recently. Next time you’re out try the Nike Run Club app 5k with coach Bennett he’ll keep you company and encourage you and you can still listen to your new playlist too just like C25k.

Nice pumpkin....Halloween joke for you ...why didn’t the ghost go to the Halloween Party.....because he had no body to go with! ........πŸ˜±πŸŽƒ πŸ‘

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to Couchphoenix

😁 thanks for the Halloween joke- actually made me smile πŸ₯°

Yes. I am so glad I have found running. You are right!! So glad to have found this forum and all of you lovely people too πŸ€—

I feel so much brighter today and feeling like I can climb back up the ladder that I have slipped down. It WILL get better!!

I will have a look at that app- thank you and get coach Bennett in my ear. I'll let you know πŸ˜‰

No knee niggles last night or today, so that's another positive.
