WK9 R1 - Dreading it.

I am a 49 year old bloke who last ran this seriously over 25 years ago. This morning I completed WK9 R1 and if you had told me this 9 weeks ago I would have doubted you. I am not going to lie, it took a lot out of me. Below is my run from this morning [excluding pre and postwarm up walk]. I think the additional 2 mins from wk 8 is a psychological barrier that I have been dreading since seeing the 9 week plan. I don't know why 20,25,28 runs were all fine, I suppose they are all in the "20 min" range but it's just this 30 minutes that isdoing my head in. Any advice please ??

Thanks in advance.

I’ve just posted pretty much the same. Week 9 Run 1 was horrible for me. Increased my water intake. When running just relax, pace yourself, and breathe. Run 2 felt so much better! I’m 48, haven’t done any kind of meaningful exercise in over 25 years too. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in such a short time! You’re going to absolutely smash the next run!

Thank you for the motivation. just 2 more runs left. Going to relax and hydrate today and tomorrow

Sounds like you might enjoy it more if you back off the pace a little bit - find a speed you feel you can keep up forever and two minutes (or 10) are neither here nor there.

You are doing really well. Just keep going. Think about how far you have come and I'm sure you'll be able to do it.

Thank you, I don't want to fail when I have come so far.

I've just done W9R1 this morning and will write up my account soon. I'm a 51 year old bloke who has never previously run. This was a hard run and my legs are complaining even now two hours later. The weather didn't help. However, every run sets you up for the next one.
