The dreaded, awful Wk6 R1!

Had read others saying it was hard and it was! Returned to my normal route tonight. Even in the first run my legs felt heavy but I did it and the walk. Then just as Jo said it was time to start running for 8 minutes I was just coming to the hill ☹️ Ran until nearly the top and then could run no more! I just had to walk until I got up and across the road at the traffic lights. I did continue running then after that for the rest of the time and did the last 5 too but it felt like a slog.

I will mark it down as not my best effort but I still have to remember that one minute was tough at the start and I have noticed I am getting a little bit further each run and have had to extend my route. Just have to keep remembering the progress made.

Well done... it is a tricky one or can be... just trust the plan and have total faith in yourself :)

Thanks - still new to this running business so I'm sure it's like everything else with good days and bad.

Hi there. Yes I struggled this morning with w6r1. Did manage to keep going but only just. Felt I did better on w5r3! Nevermind onwards and upwards! 😀

We've just got to keep going. We're right at the same place ☺️

Oh my goodness, kittens and cake - my 2 favourite things! I found it really helped having read the posts on here about the challenge of w6r1. You will smash it - just visualise that huge litter of kittens with their pompoms and cheerleading outfits on lining your route and cheering you on to the huge cake a the finish line!!!

Kittens..kittens..where are the kittens?

Do the kittens have mittens?

I struggled with all week 6 and first 2 runs of week 7 but 3rd run yesterday was much easier. Hang on in there and you’ll get to your easier run too.

Well done! Just done W6R1 too. I thought it would be a doddle after W5R3 but the first 5 minutes run was really hard. Could not believe it when Sarah said I had 2 and a half minutes to go in the first run section - seemed like forever. Anyway I made it. My advice would be to treat every run with the same level of respect. Keep calm and steady and in the words of that great sage (sallenson) embrace your inner snail 🐌😊

I'm possibly as leafy as sage but don't smell as nice!! 😁

I found that the hardest so keep going, you can do it. Hills are annoying so don't beat yourself up for struggling.

Had a long chat today with serious runner colleague ..she' s done several marathons in U.K and abroad and was running on the day she went into labour ( ,yes really)..so she's awesome...anyway..she says she has bad days at the gym or out running..and told me that this and bad runs is just the way it goes..oh she also said she did have to slow down a bit when she was 9 months pregnant!

Well done for getting through it. It's a sneaky old wotsit that one! I struggled with it & R2 but have just done R3 & have to say I found it easier than 1&2.

I’m at the same point in the programme and truly believe it will get us there. Keep strong and stay positive and keep chanting as Jo says “I love running”

I found this run really tough as well. I think it’s a mental hurdle after the first, continuous long run at the end of W5.

Well done for keeping on. R2 needs respect as well and R3 is just awesome! Good luck with the next one.
