Over-run wk 9 run2

Think I was just too excited getting ready for this morning’s jog (I can’t say run)! I felt quite comfortable first 5 minutes into the run, then my daughter rang on my air pods - this seemed to stop Jo’s reminders! It wasn’t until I had run right into town (thinking wow I must have improved). I was still waiting for the Bell before the penny dropped and I realised that Jo was on pause! Using Strava I worked out I actually ran for 40 minutes- it was so hard but I carried on with my tap-tap Japanese style running ! Which, by the way, seems to help my Plantis Fasciitis when it starts an early niggle! I really concentrated on stretching and seem to be ok but wondered if I should give myself an extra day before my final Graduation run due on Saturday? Thank you all for your supportive comments and facts, I don’t post often but read avidly all the advice on this great site!

Overdoing it is so easily done, when your doing the do, to get the deed done! 😊 Joking aside and speaking from the IC as a result of my own overdoing it, I would definitely take at least an extra day’s rest. 👍 Enjoy your graduation run when you do do it though! 😉🏃‍♀️😊👏🏻

One of my first week 1 runs was interrupted by a phone call. Like you I wondered what had happened to Sarah as the walk was getting longer than expected...

Oooh... What is this Japanese tap-tap style off running? I'm currently off running due to PF on my podiatrist's advice but living vicariously through this forum. I'm desperate to get out for a plod! 😬

I just tapped into google “Japanese running” and it brought up a YouTube video. Basically it shows how to run slowly hitting the ground with the ball or centre of your foot. Re PF are you doing the exercises, rolling a ball with your foot etc? I also bought a foot brace thing which I wore at night, it seemed to help recovery. Do feel for you but you’ll be plodding again soon or maybe tap-tapping?

Yes, I've been doing my calf raises, rolling and massaging my feet... It seems to feel better after a few days but then today I had a day of errands and walked everywhere and the pain is back tonight 😭

I looked up the Japanese running after seeing your comment earlier and will definitely give this a go. Have you found it hard changing your running technique?

I feel that I probably do land badly on my heels (hence the pf!) I'm just worried that changing my technique might cause secondary issues elsewhere...

I found it really easy - chanted the rhythm in my head the first couple of times and nothing else physically has seemed affected. Good luck hope it helps

I have definitely benefitted from taking a few extra rest days in the last few weeks - I was reading on here that you do about half the total running time in the last 3 weeks so it makes sense to take a bit more recovery time too.
