It’s a bit warm today! 😂

Got out at 7:45 but that wasn’t early enough to completely beat the heat. I was feeling the after effects of some crisp white wine and some white port and tonic from the night before, too. A recipe for disaster? Well, nearly, but I did it!

This was definitely my slowest plod yet and the closest I came to stopping but I thought “mind over matter“, and after the 10min mark I did hit my (slow!) rhythm. I’ve started braving the park again after scaring myself off in Week 2 (I went later in the day and it was completely full of families none too pleased with me puffing by, not good for the self-confidence at all!). Glad to be back there as the views are just beautiful. I’ll take a snap next time if I can juggle phone camera without stopping my run!

Lessons learned:

1) half a bottle of wine the night before is PLENTY, no need for a cheeky port as well ...!

2) some days are too hot to beat the heat but it IS possible to run anyway and enjoy it

3) hydration hydration hydration

4) podcasts can distract when music can’t. Especially if there’s a human story. (I listened to desert island discs today!)

5) brave the park. You have just as much right to be there as anyone else.

6) i actually possibly maybe LOVE running!

Hope everyone else who got out there today had fun and didn’t let the heat beat them!

Onwards to W7R2!

My alcoholic extravagance yesterday evening was a pint of bitter shandy with my fish and chips. 😁

Good for you - we need to run rather than make martyrs out of ourselves - I'm all for the indulgent runner. We take the consequences - but you still got out there in heat as well!!

Well done for your enthusiasm to run in this heat. Must admit to that “one too many” scuppering my runs. So often easy to forget the hydration!

Enjoy the runs in the park, you have every right to be there.

Good luck for the rest of the week runs 🏃‍♀️
