I completed my first consolidation run last Wednesday and felt brilliant only to wake onThursday to find I couldn’t place weight on my foot. Pain down the outside edge and It was difficult to flex it. Have given it ice treatment, worn a support bandage and raised it whenever I have been able but walking is still difficult. A week on, I now I must wait for it to recover but am wanting to get back running. When I do start, should I go back to an earlier week in the programme. Advice please.

Don't rush it and if it persists consult your doctor.
As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.
After that loss of condition is gradual.
All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.
Take care.
Are you feeling any better now?
Unfortunately I’ve not been able to run since my posting. I am not experiencing the level of pain I initially did but even extended walking causes discomfort still. Have sought medical support and will have to wait it out to prevent further long term pain. Really disappointed as I felt so good about my 30minute achievement!
What did the doctor say? Did you visit a physio? My foot also had the outside/side pain which was basically a hairline fracture which took nearly 4 months to heal. The primary cause of my injury was my choice of shoes (wrong type for my feet), lack of insoles for my flat feet and hard running (overstriding). And finally, no gait analysis done before I took up running. Basically, as a new runner whatever I could do wrong, I did do wrong. Once I did everything right and it all healed, I've been injury free since the early 2017. Check out the basics and find out what caused the problem! Good luck!
