Can anyone point me in the right direct to an app or something to help me speed up gradually on my consolidation runs? I don’t seem to be improving , thank you.
I’m getting slower 😱: Can anyone point me in... - Couch to 5K
I’m getting slower 😱
Hey SJ60 👋 Have you tried the C25K+ Stepping Stone, Speed and Stamina podcasts?
Bridge to 10k
I’m struggling to get to 4K in 30 minutes but it doesn’t help that strava and mapmyrun both drop out in the woods. I’m pretty certain I only get to 3.6 km though. Disappointingly slow.
You graduated less than two weeks ago..........you need to acquire some patience and get some miles on your legs and in a few months you will be faster.
Have you read the guide to post C25K running? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... in which you will see the advice that to get faster you need to spend 80% of your running time at an easy conversational pace, then push really hard in the remainder using intervals or fartlek.
You would be better advised to just get used to your 30 minute consolidation runs which are about becoming comfortable before attempting to speed up or run further.
I’m getting slower too - deliberately. I want to enjoy my runs and be injury free
Hi SJ60
I feel your pain. I graduated in March and wasn't running anywhere near 5k in 30 minutes. I continued consolidation runs and eventually made 5k in 41 minutes in early June. I've since been following the bridge to 10k building up the length of time I run for. Three weeks ago I ran for 60 minutes but the distance was still just short of 7k. For the last 2 weeks I have used my short run to follow an intervals run on the Nike Run Club app as I find the stepping stones podcast less than motivating. All that being said pace is not a quick fix. I'm getting my head round that slowly just like my running. Sorry I can't give you a hack or trick to sort it. Just keep on running, longer and slower for now and be patient🤔
