Running uphill help!

We have recently moved to a valley! The only moderately flat run is 2.8 km ( so not long enough but too long for a repeat loop) and through a forest so not great on rainy days. All other directions from my house is either up or down a very steep hill. I run for 30 mins before starting my day whilst hubby looks after our baby before work so can't go somewhere to run as will take too long. Any tips for learning to run up very steep hills as either way I need to start or end my run on a hill?

thanks

Think about increasing your warm up time to compliment building up extra effort from your start on the hill.

Short quick steps, pump your arms and don’t have them at your normal 90 deg,for flat running.Perhaps 60 deg.🤔.

Give yourself weeks to adjust and let your body adapt and build.

Thank you, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and stop focusing on time until I get there, thank you

Think that’s right Cass.Focus on finding your comfortable hill climbing technique.🤔Its a vigorous work out anyway.🏃‍♀️⭐️👏👏

I have hills at both ends of my route x I do a circular 4.73 km most days and it’s torture. My only advice is to slow

Right down as if you’re actually climbing the hill? Wider steps etc and don’t worry about speed at all.

I think those extra efforts and the rain. Etc make me more experienced in my runs and the little bit more of energy makes me stronger in the thighs in the long run? X

Wow, well done, I will definitely be slowong down, think you're right in not going to focus in distance or speed but just making it up the hill!
