Not been out since Sunday morning due to long days at work and lousy weather, so forced myself to go out this evening. Somehow evening runs always seem harder, don't know what it is, yet the times say otherwise- according to Ms Strava I posted my second best 5k time (my graduation run being the fastest, and I had spent a whole week psyching myself up for that!).

I suspect I started off a bit too quickly, a sub-6 minute second km was the clincher, started to feel a bit breathless so backed off a tad. And (were I so inclined) I could enter a wet t-shirt contest and provide my own water...

I'm still being lapped by members of the local running club, and Sir Mo Farah isn't casting worried glances over his shoulder yet, but hey, I've got off my fat bottom and done it, and (without wishing to sound overly arrogant) I don't think 32.50 is too shabby a time for someone who until May hadn't run further than the bus stop for 40 years.

32.50 is a very good time Cp1965, my recent 5K times have been a little over that, my latest being 33.12 last Saturday, so if I can get 32.50 this Saturday I will be very happy, I am glad that you enjoyed your run today with that time, it certainly is NOT shabby.

That’s excellent, certainly quicker than my 5K’s well done 🙂

Well done, and that seems a great time. I’ve got my 6th post C25K run tomorrow and am only at 36 mins for 5k, no idea whatsoever how I’d get that down to your time! Not too worried about it either, I’m still amazed I can run for 3 miles when I couldn’t run a minute in early May.

Must admit when I first started I wasn't sure I could do 30 minutes, let alone 5k in 32... rest day today and see what tomorrow brings! Got to burn some calories so I can celebrate my first day out of lockdown, the Leicester leper colony has now been shrunk so I'm officially a mile outside it as of midnight tonight...

Well done you! That's a great time and you should feel very proud (I'm a good couple of minutes behind you). Keep up the great work 💪

Thank you, must admit when I started I never expected to be able to do this. Another couple of weeks of consolidation (broken up by a week's holiday, but I'm taking my kit with me!) and we'll see if I can start increasing my distance a bit.

Yes I'm thinking the same! I'm spending my next few weeks trying to improve my 5k time before I start to increase the distance.

I've now completed four 5ks and today I got a PB 34:14 😁 I'm also taking my kit on holiday, which I cant believe I'm even saying!! But I can't wait to try new routes!

The other morning I experimented with easing the pace a bit, and at the end felt that I could have done maybe another km, maybe some time next weekend I'll have a go for 6. Just found out that my favourite local pub reopens on Sunday of this week, maybe if I manage the full 6k I'll treat myself to a cajun chicken salad and a cold pint of Aspall's cider... nothing like an incentive 😁
