I feel like this past week my motivation for running has really slacked! Any advice?

I’m on week 8 now- just completed my 2nd run tonight, it went well and physically I can handle it but I really had to mentally push myself through it! I feel like I’ve just not been enjoying it as much recently and don’t really know how to get that motivation back! When I did my first 25 minute run at the end of week 6 I felt like I had finally got the running bug- I was absolutely loving it!! Then from the last run of week 7, up to now I’ve just not been feeling it😩

Any advice would be really appreciated😊

I think you reach a point where it all seems the same, just running for 25 mins plus. You need to be mentally prepared for week 9, so be positive, congratulate yourself that you’ve come so far and you’re so very nearly there. Maybe change your route slightly and stick on a few up tempo tracks? Pick a time of day when you know you’ll have more energy too. My best runs are about 9.30-10am but now I’m back at work it’s a bit tricky, hence only fitting in 2 this week. Just be positive! Good luck!🤞🏼🏃‍♂️💪🏼

Thanks for the reply😊 I could really do with putting together a better playlist- maybe that will help me a little bit!

Definitely. It depends what you like listening to and what you use but I searched pop workouts on Apple Music and there’s some good stuff (but it’s current so not sure if it’s your thing?!).

I think a lot of us run out of steam towards the end of the programme. I know I did. But its really worth hanging in there as the rewards will come. You are soon to graduate then a whole new set of challenges await to pump up your enthusiasm. You're doing brilliantly - keep on!!!

Being so close to the finish line is what’s keeping me going! I’ll start incorporating some new routes once I’ve finished the programme and see how I get on with that😊

Good idea! You should also pop into the consolidation club for ideas and support once you're finished.

I never thought of that, thank you!!😊

Maybe change your idea of running - rather than thinking that you HAVE TO run, think of it that you WANT TO run and pick whatever prize you want after you run.

ie. Tomorrow after run you buy yourself something nice, or you get that chocolate bar to congratulate yourself on a job well done.

Works on me 😃

Hi lovely!.. I've got just the ticket for you to get your motivation back!.....

If you ran tonight (Well as its after midnight it's technically yesterday which was Wednesday)..... this means your next run is due Friday....?

Forgive me if I'm repeating myself cos we've spoken to so many people about it but....

Join us on our run at 9am Friday (UK time) .... It's the brainchild of MccHa (with a tiny bit of help off me) - He's stuck on a ship far away (his time 4pm). We are both graduating but we have other joining us... some are doing consolidation runs, some are graduating and some are just running their own week's run but doing it together as a big run... Thought it would be great and how motivational would that be for you!... running with people from all over the UK and even one in Singapore!...

Once we have ran we are going to take a snapshot of ourselves crossing the finish line (tho I"m still working on MccHa for this bit)... but we are all posting..

It will be messy, it will be emotional but most of all it will be bloody good fun! AND all in all to co-ordinate a run like this i think is a pretty decent achievement for us all :-)

I've even got Plattszo looking at her diary and moving meetings so she can ride or should i say run shotgun with me :-)
