I started 2 weeks today I was on w2 r2 I found the run getting easier which gave me a high but my knees and legs where let’s say worrying! I started doing it in the evening as I find I’m so tired all day if I go out early morning. The day after I had a tummy bug Wednesday so in bed all day very weak and 🤢🤢 Thursday obviously feeling washed out I made my self get up and spend day with my mum and daughters as it was the 1st anniversary of my dads death😢 and mum really needed us we went for a long walk but slowed my recovery down as here I am Saturday with still acing heavy legs now I’m not sure if it can be from Tuesday nights run or the 🤢🤢

It could be that you are dehydrated, you need to stay hydrated especially so after a tummy bug where you can lose a lot more fluid than you realise.

Take an extra day, make sure you're hydrated before trying to run again.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running. It takes longer to recover from illness to undertake hard physical work than for light daily duties.

Enjoy your journey.
