Finally! Three months post graduation, with a few weeks off spent on the Injury Couch, I have at last run my first 5k this morning. A big thank you to roseabi for her sound advice and wonderful post graduation bridging plan that she shared with Allbarron and myself. It has helped me to reach that elusive 5k mark and is gently going to ease me into the Magic 10k plan over the next few weeks.
For those who have read my recent posts, you will know that my mojo has been playing up recently, until I found it lurking behind the sofa one Saturday evening after watching James Bond...... Anyway, Mymojo as "she" has now been officially and affectionately named, pushed me out of bed this morning after I read Speedy60's and jorgeRuns' latest posts.
I am chuffed to bits to have reached my first 5k. My two teenagers and hubby cheered me when I shared my time when I reached home. I felt like I had graduated all over again, as I feel I am officially a Couch to 5k runner now 😊.
For any new graduates who are still striving to hit the 5k mark, just keep going - you are doing brilliantly. I know it's not always easy/fun/comfortable, sometimes it's down right hard/difficult/draining, but each consolidation run strengthens your legs and builds your stamina. If my 50 year old post-injury legs can do it, so can yours!
Happy running everyone!😁🏃♀️
