Hi

Just finished W2 R3 and my shin muscle or muscle next to shin is painful especially on the left, I liked it up and it seems it’s “shin splints’ anything I can do to stop this? Thanks

Are you sure? I used to get a fair bit of calf/shin pain in the early weeks, I figured it was just my muscles crying cause they weren’t used to being used so much 😂

Yes that’s probably it 🤣 but I think that’s just the term for it, I normally go to the gym and do squats etc because it said your legs maybe aren’t strong enough but I suppose my body just isn’t used to running , hope it goes ....😀

I found adjusting my pace/stride to make sure I wasn’t slapping my feet down and making sure I was drinking plenty of water each day, all fine now 😊

I had a similar problem when I first started but found when I treated myself to a proper pair of trainers the problem disappeared. Just a thought

Follow the advice in the guide on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
