Week 2 run 1 is exactly the point where I decided that I had to get proper running shoes from a proper running shop that did gait analysis. Bought them next day and did run 2 day after that. Unbelievable difference.

There are other causes for shin splints but that’s what it was for me: totally rubbish trainers.

Hi JWade92

Lots of advice on NHS website

Slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front, run on grass or treadmill and wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.

Take the advice from IannodaTruffe ..then, land lightly and slow right down:)

Try taking a look at this video for the technique of landing on the forefoot rather than the heel youtu.be/9L2b2khySLE

Good luck 😊

Brilliant video - thanks for the share!

I had the same problem but went for gait analysis and good shoes. I've had no trouble with shin splints since then and have just finished Week4. It's a great programme! Good luck!
