Running in hot weather!

So today I completed week 6 run 2. I waited until 7.30pm so it was cooler. It was still really warm. I struggled. Do any of you take some water with you in this weather? I might do it for my next run! All I could think of was water ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Good question. Would like to know the answer to that as well.

I still tend not to carry any on a 5k, but do make sure I finish near water (or if I can plot my route right, a pint ๐Ÿคฃ) but I do start to carry water if going further. In my mind itโ€™s better to carry some than regret not taking it (my water is in my car and I run laps passing it when itโ€™s hot).

Wow! Well done, specially in this heat! ๐Ÿ‘

I did it yesterday and I found it tough!

Re water ๐Ÿ’ฆ we really should stay hydrated but I donโ€™t take with me... itโ€™s close to where I finish and a welcome relief post run ... itโ€™s in car so always close but Iโ€™m worried I need a loo break ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks I think I might invest in a small bottle just for this weather.

I always take water. I'd rather have it and not need it. I'm more likely to pour it over my head and neck than drink it though.

Same as that... and I convince myself that carrying a small bottle of water while running will help work my arm muscles too ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I always always take water. The bottle is never compmetely full and I only really take sips - never need gulps - but I always have it there yes! I ran this evening like you, but left it until 8.30 to run when the sun had gone down a wee bit more- you were brave to go at 7.30... Well done you!

If you hydrate daily your body will be fine for the duration of a short run. When you drink water, it's not going to end up in your system straight away. Instead, it's going to stay in your stomach for a while. In other words, you may finish the run and the water is still sloshing in your stomach. I ran 10k today without any water and although my mouth was dry, I wasn't dehydrated and desperate for a drink straight away. Regular hydration is the key! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thought about taking some water but decided against it. Mind you didn't do the run until 9pm, but what a difference it made going out when the sun was going down and not too hot or humid. My best run yet - aiming for 25 mins as wanted to repeat the last run as found week 7 really hard but did the full 28. How did that happen?!!

Can't help feeling we 'cheated' though as it was a lot cooler.

I'm addicted to ginger shots, so I keep the tiny bottles for water to knock back on the warm down walk. They are small enough to fit in pocket or hand!
