I completed W5r3 on Thursday- super chuffed... got soaked but didn’t care..

got a waterproof windbreaker arrived today so fingers crossed no more getting wet for me!

Can’t wait to start week 6

Can’t wait for you to complete W5r3 and feel so good for doing it πŸ‘πŸ‘

Well done you!!!! πŸ‘πŸ‘ Cannot wait to hear how you find W6R1!!!

What's it like running in the rain though!? πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ’§ Fab you're getting correct running stuff! I was saying to hubby just this evening that I think I should treat myself to some proper running shoes or good trainers since I seem to be sticking with this programme! What brand of trainers did you get and do you have many recommendations? πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Ÿ Xx

Being honest it was ok ... don’t get me wrong I don’t fancy running in the rain everytime πŸŒ§πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ It’s funny really .. but because mentally I struggled with W5r3 so rain didn’t really phase me... important thing after is to get home and get out of wet clothes tho...

my buying new gear is 2 fold... it will encourage me to stick with it but also I’m trying to do it to give me best chance of success...

I would say the running shoes are a must!.. I can’t believe how different they are to run in..

πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ‘ŸπŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Œ

I went to a local independent running store and had gate analysis... they get you on treadmill and film you etc etc... it was great as you know they will recommend accordingly.. the guy in there gave me the best advice ever after watching me run which was to shorten my stride.. they have a great choice of brands even tho I’m only small feet ... and they explain the benefits of each shoe.. they gave honest reviews.. I liked one shoe but he told me he would prefer if I liked the next one more as a better shoe for beginner..

I tried Γ’n’s, Brooks, Hoka - I tried about 6 pairs in all and settled on the Γ’n’s... Never heard of any of them prior to starting running πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ They were all decent.. I think that’s because you go to a bespoke running shop.. expensive but worth it I would say but if you don’t want to invest quite so much then I know mainstream sports brands Nike, Adidas do some good ones as well .... definitely get the gait analysis... I watched myself back too!

There’s a photo of my shoes on one of my posts - I’m such a princess and wanted pretty ones but once I was in the shop I listened to advice and bought for functionality not how they look..

let us know how you get on x

Well done , run 3 will go better than you think it will but there is no rush just take the runs at your own pace.

If you completed W5R2... then physically you are ready for W5R3.

The issue is that W5R3 is a big mental test for many here - they look at it and think 'OMG, WTF?'

What's not obvious to them, and probably you, is that the 14 preceding runs, 157 minutes of running have prepared your body (but not necessarily your mind). You've got over 2.5 hours of running in your legs over the last 4 and half weeks - that's more than enough to enable you to complete W5R3.

Mantra 1: every run you've done prepares you for the next one (i.e. the body is ready)

Mantra 2: the body is ready but the mind less so (i.e. ignore the gremlins!)

It's a free world, you can do C25K as you like, but trust me... your body is ready.

Do it :-)

John thank you... You have made me think that, in fact, I may well just go for it tand do W5R3 tomorrow! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

That's the spirit! Embrace the challenge :-)

You completed W5R2 - you didn't report any issues or struggles, so what's not to like?

The program is designed to completed in 9 weeks by virtually anyone. Remember the name... you're coming from the couch, so that includes proper unfitties.

You are well beyond on that now... Go at the pace, nice and slow, and you'll be fine.

I just did wk5 run2 this morning and it’s safe to say I’m slightly intimidated by the thought of running for 20 mins straight in run3 but..... positive thinking....

1) i would have thought running for 8 mins impossible after wk1 when those 60 seconds killed me

2) I always find the run easier than the one after the break for walking so I’m hopeful I can just stride it out.

3) I’m so proud of myself each time I’ve done it.

4) I’ve promised myself a trip to sports shop to get some new stuff when I’ve done it.

I’m hoping all this will keep me going when I attempt it. Good luck
