GPS without phone

Hate having to take my phone on runs; can't see without glasses; and y'day seem to have accidentally deleted the C25K app!!So thinking of getting a fitbit type thing: prob not Fitbit as most don't have GPS. Don't like big chunky things either. Got to be able to load Strava etc. Am I allowed to ask for recommendations here?

I have my phone in a waistbelt along with wired earphones and find it quite comfortable for running. My eyesight isnt great so I open my Nikerun app before setting off for my 5min walk. The Start button is large enough for me to see to press before I start my run. I guess everyone has to find the way that suits them best . Good luck, and you will get lots of great advice from this forum!

Go for a dedicated GPS running watch like a Garmin - shop around for 2nd hand one if you're on a limited budget.

It will link all the info to your Strava account.

Ive had the Garmin Vivoactive 4 now for 3 weeks. Cant fault it. My partner uses a fitbit that seems to cause her endless grief. The Garmin uploads to strava instantly and has a ton of extra useful features. very intuative to use

When I started the programme, I got hold of amazfit bip (not lite) GPS-built in independent device.

It is at least as accurate as my partner's garmin, however does sometimes misreport on altitudes (as I suspect it doesn't have altimeter/barometer/gyroscope). So, I do manual "elevation fix" on strava at the review point (matter of clicking a button before saving).

It does sync with strava. On a massive plus side, battery life is something like a month, with every second day GPS locking use.

Thanks! Interesting: hadn’t thought of that 👍

I keep my phone in a belt too...along with the house key. Only downside is I don't have a heart monitor though...so might also look at getting a watch.
