May seem a silly question apologies in advance. But will running actually make me

Lose belly fat? I have a real issue with it at the moment and wandering if I’m kidding myself that I will actually see a difference from running? Just wandering what others see a difference in from running??

Thanks 😊

If you are in a calorie deficit then you will lose fat. Where you lose it from is a different matter...

... and to add to the replies above, to burn that much fat, you need to run a LOT.

Running at moderate pace for 1 mile burns about only 100 calories - so 5k (3.1 miles) burns approx 300 cals - that isn't much. Think about what that is in food and drink terms.

In other words... you really need to focus on your diet :-)

There is a saying - you can't outrun a poor diet. Having said that, if you stick at it consistently, everything does tighten up. I now have a waist and a proper πŸ‘ that I haven't had for years! Another thing I've noticed is that it gives me a more positive outlook on life so that other challenges, like diet, become achievable.

If you compliment your running with weight training and core exercises, so much the better!

Give it a try, it can only be a good thing!

I've actually found that it has helped reduce my lower belly fat, which i really struggle to shift with other exercises, definitely seeing that tightening up!

I'll add to my post by saying that C25K can act as a successful gateway to a healthier lifestyle generally. If you get enthused by running, you'll naturally become more aware of your diet and want to improve it so that your running improves.

Totally agree with JohnW ....being part of C25K is making me more aware of how my choices affect my health. My face, collarbones (oddly) and thighs were the first to slim down.

Having said that, I had a mad 2 day pms binge on chocolate...that usually happens once a month along with fluid retention....so I'll avoid the scales this weekend πŸ™ˆ

I run in the evening which helps avoid being sat around on the couch eating bad stuff. I’m hungry post run and probably eat the 300 calories I’ve just burned but at least it’s cereal or toast and banana. Definitely not losing weight as weigh the same, but body starting to feel a bit different after 6 weeks though not losing belly fat. Also, eating much healthier - muesli, yogurt, fruit for brekkie not pain au chocolat!

Or can I recommend snake-oil as sold by Dr Hornswoggle. Magic beans as recommended by Jack the giant killer. Or maybe Lily the Pink's medicinal compound, (most efficacious in every way). All the preceeding have my cast iron no money back in any circumstances guarantee.
