I did the whole C25K programme running on grass and since graduating I thought I’d try some different routes out and they have been on the roads. My god do my legs hurt like mad afterwards. I waddle home once I’ve done my 30mins and I definitely need the day off for recovery. Is this normal? Are there any things I can do to help? Should I go back to the grass?

This also happened to me- I always run on a dirt path along a canal, but did a run on the roads and couldn't even complete my run! I only managed 25mins but should have done 30- so I'm interested to see the replies to this post
I have always run on the road so I don't know if running on grass is better. But I expect there is a lot more impact from the harder surface.
One reason this makes muscles sore is that they bounce around a lot more with the harderimpacts. A way to reduce this problem is to wear compression tights. They really do help with preventing sore leg muscles.
After 3 road runs Ive gone back to grass for now as my legs are in agony, I can’t seem to recover enough in the day off either and wondered if there is anything I can do to help? As well as compression tights? Although I’m back on grass I’m really struggling to manage the full 30mins with the pain so all in all I’ve got myself in a right pickle!
