Wk9 Run2 Attempt 2 didn't quite make it again 🤷‍♀️

This time last week I couldn't get through this run, got to 15mins and had to stop due to asthma. Ended up with a cold and feeling really rough so explains why. Last night was ashing up and thought I'm ready for a run I reckon, I'll do that tomorrow. Got to 15mins was struggling but thought I'd manage, my son called asking for a yazoo (I'd told him to call in an emergency 🙄) couldn't hold much of a convo which knocked my confidence then turned up the part of my route that has become my nemesis and that was it 20mins in and stopped. I am still and will always be positive and when I can't do something I always try to think why and try to fix it. I have never felt strong in my 40years for various reasons and it will always be a battle to beat the weakling in me, I guess being ill yet again has knocked my confidence BUT 20mins/3k is a good run and I will keep trying 💪

You’ll do it! Don’t be too hard on yourself. Try again on Sunday, walk tomorrow and do your stretches.

Nobody says you have to do this quickly. Repeating runs is good if it means it builds stamina and confidence. I’m only at W6R2, and I know I may have to repeat before I can manage the 25 min run.

You’ve done brilliantly so far, don’t let this discourage you! Good luck

Thank you so much. Its just a little frustrating when you get set backs as you kind of loose momentum. But you are right it all ads to building stamina, I will go for it again on Sunday 💪 and good luck to you to 😊

It is good and you are so close to finishing!! . I have a nemesis part of a run route and I just avoid it now. I used to get to that spot and feel tired. So I changed route and it was fine. Maybe try to avoid that and you might just break through the mental block.

I know so close and had a set back 🤦‍♀️ lol I was trying to overcome my nemesis but it seems to be beating me so I think I will pick another route, thanks for the advice 😊

Progress between runs... and there’s also an illness, these things aren’t fully gone when symptoms go, they can linger a little as our immune system finished them off. Yazoo? I’d have to check with my daughter as to it’s emergency status 🤣.

20 minutes for 3k is cool... and the best thing about it is that there’s definitely room to slow down if you’re struggling!

The part of the run that is your nemesis... is there a way to avoid it? Could you run the route the other way and take it at 10 minutes in? I’m not saying run away from it, but if you could train away from it then you could go back and kick its butt!

You’re stronger than you think... and you’ll get stronger with each run you do for a good while... one day you’ll even see it!

Happy running.

Thank you. Yazoo Is chocolate milk 😂 an emergency in his mind 🙄

It weird because I thought I was going slow but checked my strava after and I clearly hadn't gone slow enough. I seem to be struggling to go slower?? I remember doing a pace of 8 to 8.5 happily but that feels like a slow walk now. I will have to try harder.

My nemesis is a long slow incline about 10 mins into my run, I have done it before but its like I've lost my nerve, everytime I get to that corner I think I can't do it which is odd. I know I need to conquer it lol and I will but would like to be able to do 30mins comfortably before I do, I will have lots of runs after this to practice. I don't see run 3 of week 9 as the end at all.

Your totally right though I need to realise I am stronger than I think and believe in myself more and hopefully that will help me with this mental block, thank you 😊

I’ve seen yazoo... never tried it... but my daughter loves it, and I’ve now had it confirmed that there being none is indeed an emergency 🤣. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll check the fridge before my long runs!

One cool thing that happens is as we get fitter, conversational pace starts to creep up. We don’t notice because we are putting in the same effort level. Finding the next gear down can be tricky as it feels weird... and possibly even wrong.

Yes, believe that you’re awesome... if in doubt, look at all the running on your tracker!

😂😂😂 Yazoo is now a confirmed emergency by the kids haha!

That makes sense about the pace, it just feels so odd trying to go slower. I did Run 1 of week 9 at a pace of 6.45 I couldn't believe it, but I drove to a coastal path and it was on flat and I wasn't poorly. That means that my stamina is improving then right? That is pretty cool then isn't it.... See there is a positive in every run, completed or not. I feel happier now thank you.

Off to buy Yazoo now lol

Stamina yes, fitness too (vO2max is one measure) and strength come to think of it... they feed into health... and that increases your life expectancy... so yeah, every run has a purpose and some great benefits, no matter how short of the planned run.

Haha I know, we always think we are better before we really are and do too much 🙄 and yes I totally blamed him and told him next time he's coming with me 😂 he came on his scooter on Run1 of Wk 9 and he was knackered so that's his punishment haha.

It was just one of those runs where the odds where against me but I still did a good little run didn't I so its all good and I feel good to give it another crack Sunday. Thank you 😊
