I put off doing my run yesterday,I've been going Tuesdays,Thursdays and sundays. I couldn't face it yesterday as I was worried I was pushing myself too much. I'm 53 and not ran for about 10 year . My fitbit was saying I was running at an average of 170. I slowed it down today ....can anyone tell me if this is high or am I worrying for nothing?

Presumably you are talking about your heart rate not your stride rate.

If you feel okay while running and recover reasonably quickly afterwards then I wouldn't worry.

If you are concerned then consult your GP or practice nurse.

The zones that you are probably comparing to are based on averages......you may not be average.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

That is the best gauge of whether you are pushing too hard or not.

Yea my heart rate. I could probably say morning as I passed people but not much else. I did slow it down today.

My recovery is fine I've got my breath back by about a minute into my 5 minute cool down walk?
