W1R2 didn’t feel the burn!

I’ve made it to run 2 of week one. I took the advice given and I tried the NHS strength and flex podcast. It’s a much slower workout than I’ve ever done but it’s surprisingly good at sorting out posture and I certainly felt those tight spots. Today’s run was much better no burning calves! Thanks! I also find the first couple of runs really hard but after that much easier, anyone else find that?

Great stuff! The early minutes of all runs are more difficult for the vast majority of people, indeed the only ones I know who don’t find this are people who’ve never not been runners. It takes the body a few minutes to adjust to what we are asking it to do... it’s sometimes referred to as the “toxic 10” as 10 minutes is pretty common. With the 5 minute warmup, that 10 minutes will cover your first two intervals, so that sounds pretty normal to me. The only real way of combatting it is to run even slower in those minutes, which will make more sense once you’re running 30 minutes at a time.
