Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision and your caution.

This guide to the plan is essential reading and should answer most of your queries, healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

I felt just like you. For me knee supports are essential and running on grass is kinder to the body. Also wish I had done 2 weeks of knee strengthening exercises before commencing. However I’m really good now have repeated lots of runs but just about to start week 4. Good luck!
