Week 5.......DONE

I’m going to make a small confession here....

When I started C25K 5 weeks ago, I looked through the individual runs from start to finish. I knew I could do the first few weeks, and I set myself a target of getting to W5 R2.

I thought I’d be good to that point, but I couldn’t see how my unfit body with the extra stone, creaky knees, dodgy hip and general malaise could run for 20 minutes straight.

But this morning I proved myself wrong.

I’m not going to lie, the first few minutes always feel rough, but when I got to halfway and the body felt fine, I just told myself it was 2 and a bit more songs, gritted my teeth and turned for home.

The second half was better than the first, although I was ready to stop when MJ told me 2 minutes to go. More gritting of teeth, and I got it done. Yes, I ran for 20 minutes straight.

Musical support this morning came from The Farm, the inimitable Pink, Spin Doctors, The Fratelli’s, and an unexpected cameo from the one and only Vanilla Ice. Thanks guys, couldn’t have done it without you.

Onwards and upwards to week 6, just a few minutes more.......

Well done 👍

Well done! Loving the playlist!

I’ve designed my playlist around my formative years, mainly 80s/90’s. Every song on there reminds me of an event or an experience. Plus I can’t stand most modern music!!!

I do the same! If a song evokes a memory, it takes away the thought of running! If you can sing the words as your running, your pace Is ideal!

Yes, I’m certainly not setting any speed records. I seem to be most comfortable at about 6.30/km, so won’t make 5k in 30 mins, but shouldn’t be too far away if I can maintain that pace for 30 mins

Congratulations to you bradders0807 on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K. 😊 🏃🏾

Onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊
