Week 9 Run 1 ✅

Well I went out this morning for my first 30minute run. It was mainly dry although windy but nothing like Friday. I thought I would manage the extra 2minutes no bother but felt right from the start that it was hard work. But I seemed to pass my markers earlier than before and although I couldn’t speed up for the last few minutes, I was gobsmacked with my times/distance on Strava. 3.89k and 7.59 min/k.

I might be jumping the gun a bit but I’m thinking that I’ll keep doing 3runs each at 33mins, 36mins etc till I get to 5k, which I presume might be about 40minutes running

Well done on 9/1! Not long till Graduation! 👏

Someone who has read my mind! That is my plan now, just increase the time each week by the same amount as the end weeks of the C25K app did until I reach 5K. At this point in time, I don't have much desire to go past 5K or run longer than 45 minutes.

I’ll be happy with 5k too. My route is exactly 2.5k so I might as well run back the whole way, as stop and walk the final bit!

There are three more podcasts to try as well. C25K+ with Laura guiding you along. I'll probably try those out in a few weeks when I'm more comfortable with these longer runs.

I was thinking I’d just rerun the app and keep running for the cool down. Although I know what landmarks to aim for but quite like the times being called out. I don’t want to be faffing around trying to look at my phone for times

Fantastic! Glad you had a good run even though it didn’t feel like it to begin with. I felt the extra 3 minutes in week 8 more noticeable than I expected.

I’m so glad the weather was a lot better a few weeks ago, or I don’t think I would have started.

Same here, although I did really enjoy a couple of runs in the rain, I’ve definitely appreciated the nice weather 🌞

Well done!! My week 9 plan from tomorrow is one normal run and the pace I have been going- then for 9-2 I am going to slow it right down and see if I can keep going for 5k. Run 3 will be a celebratory 30 mins of just running and thinking ‘wow’ I did it!! Nike running app has some superb guided runs by the way which might help you after the plan- I am going to try them. Good luck!!

Good luck for the runs, sounds like a good plan. I tried the Nike Running app for my distances but the gps signal didn’t work and it kept telling me I was running 6minute kilometres- I wish!! I used Strava instead which is fine as I know roughly the landmarks on my route. Here’s to imminent graduation
