I graduated about 5 weeks ago and my running had really tailed off. Not having the structure of the program and no real goal didn’t help. The maximum I ran for until today since graduating was about 15-20 minutes.
Today I tried listening to a bbc podcast whilst running (Obsessed with Normal People, it’s great).
It worked brilliantly and meant I wasn’t concentrating on how I was feeling but my body just did it’s job whilst my mind was occupied elsewhere.
Can’t wait to do it again tomorrow 👍🌈

Thanks Fanny. I’ve never listened to any podcasts before so once I’ve exhausted the Normal People podcasts I’m not sure what to listen to....I’ll take a look at the Monkey Cage.
Monkey cage is one of my favorite pod casts, that and the guilty feminist. Tried a pod cast out in a run a couple of weeks ago and it really helped to distract the mind.
I really found podcasts help too. Music can be good but podcasts take your mind off the fact that you're running, and stop you checking the time every 20 seconds! Audio books/plays are great too!
It’s a funny time that just after graduation. I missed having a plan but because I knew my running ‘steps per minute’ (from my watch) I could use a Spotify playlist based on that. It gives you a tempo but it also varies slightly from track to track so that you can have ‘rests’ and ‘challenges’! For a spoken word podcast I love ‘No such thing as a fish ‘ which is random facts from the QI elves. Very funny (can be rude) but distracting. I used to stop before 30 min too - because I could - but eventually got back to longer runs. Good luck but above all just get out there and enjoy.
