I tried to do the couch to 5k a few years ago and failed as found it really difficult. Any tips on restarting as I am at least two stone over weight and 57 with osteroarthritis in my knee

Just take it slowly , don’t run too fast at start and try pace yourself , I’m not much of a runner myself I’m on week 5 run 3

Read the post about how to run C25K (under pinned posts) as there is lots of great advice. If it seems too hard, you are probably going too fast. Good luck :)

Hi Natalie17

I did the same as you started about two years ago and failed miserably too and I am now about 6stone over weight!

I’m determined to lose the weight and get fit this time!

This time round being much more lenient on myself and not worrying about going to slow - I looked up Japanese jog and I am doing that. It makes my run slower that my walk LOL! But I do get breathless and today’s run will be week 3 run1 and although dreading it I am also enjoying it. I also run where I know no one goes as soooo self conscious.

I’ve not lost any weight yet but can get in a size smaller jeans already! 😊 Just take it slow And steady. Worst bit is getting out the door! 🙄 xxx

Hi Natalie, Like you I failed before when I tried. This time round I am so super thrilled I have made it to week 4 and just done first session. I am 56 and full of aches and pains but agree with everyone’s comments - going slow is the reason I have reached this far. That has meant going slower then I naturally expect to and for me it is really making sure I am as relaxed as possible and not bringing a tension into my movement. Ironically my aches and pains are disappearing more each week. I am on a complete high about my progress - never having been a runner - this is a lifetime best for me!! You can do it xx

Hi there

I'm on week 3 and I've repeated the runs. I can't really walk easily for 30 minutes but here I push myself until the end and repeated week 1 a few times, repeated run 3 of week 2 a couple times and will probably do the same here.

Just do your best and know that it awesome...

And don't give up! You can always start with half run 1 for a week, then move to the full runs...
